Important Notice Regarding DLM Contract Modifications
We hope you all had an enjoyable weekend and a happy Father's Day.

We have been trying very hard to communicate the importance of following the DLM call in rules, so that our service works smoothly and you have a hassle-free boating experience. In order to improve the system and make things run even more smoothly, we need to make a few minor modifications to he DLM Contract that will save everyone time and money. I have stated our reasoning for the changes below, in case you're interested.

Please take notice that The Boat Place Inc. hereby modifies the 2020/2021 Dry Land Marina Service and Storage Agreement as follows:

(New or modified language in red text):

HOURS OF SERVICE:

  • 8:00am to 5:00pm (Closed one hour for lunch from about 12:00pm to 1:00pm)
  • Tuesday through Saturday (Office Closed Sunday and Monday)
  • Call by 3:30pm for launching ("Last Call" is 3:30pm)
  • No launching after 4:30pm
  • Make reservations Saturday by 3:30pm for use on Sunday or Monday
  • All Sunday reservations MUST BE CONFIRMED by phone BEFORE 9:00am or the boat will not be launched. THIS IS A FIRM CUTOFF TIME ON SUNDAYS. The Crew does not check the machine after 9:00am on Sundays, and cannot accommodate late call-ins or confirmations.
  • All Monday reservations MUST BE CONFIRMED by phone BEFORE 8:00am or the boat will not be launched.
  • If boat is used after hours/overnight, and is to be used on the next consecutive day, Owner MUST call in before 8:00am (9:00am on Sundays) so the boat is not hauled out of the water in the morning. Once boat is hauled out of the water, it will not be re-launched the same day.
  • Boat must leave the dock within 30 minutes of reservation time or it may be hauled out of the water and will not be re-launched the same day.

SPECIAL RULES:

  • No boats will be launched if "Small Craft" or greater weather warning is in effect.
  • Boats will be launched/hauled -- and dockspace will be assigned -- at the discretion of the Company. Owners launching their own boats outside Company's operating hours do NOT have access to the docks, and MUST haul their own boats back out of the water. Company discourages Owners from launching their own boats. Following Call-In Rules will allow Company to provide this service for Owner
  • An appropriate additional fee (generally not less than $50.00) may be charged if the Company launches the boat at the request of the Owner, if the request is made in violation of Call-In Rules.
  • All boats, engines, outdrives, propellers, trailers, etc. are subject to wear and tear. Company shall not be liable or held responsible for any damage whatsoever.
  • All engine work must be performed by Company (or its agent, Harborside Marine, Inc.), including winterization, oil changes, tune-ups, etc. All materials used or installed on the boat must be purchased from the Company.

REASONING:

Every morning at 8:00am (9:00am on Sundays), we haul out all the boats that came back to the dock after hours on the previous evening.

While nearly everyone is following the system, some people are still calling at 10:30 or 11:00 (or even later), thinking their boats are still in the water from the previous day. On most days by 9:00am, almost every boat is hauled out already. To ensure that we do not haul your boat out unnecessarily, we have modified the time that you must call and notify us you are using the boat. We have also clarified the language in the contract regarding re-launching after a boat has been hauled.

A couple of owners have launched their own boats recently on Sundays when we were not here. We know EXACTLY how many boats are in the water at all times, and many times the docks are at full capacity when we leave. If a boat is tied up that we don't know about, someone is going to come back to the dock and have no place to tie up. Therefore, we have added a phrase that if you launch your boat yourself when we are not here, you must also haul it out of the water yourself. You will NOT have access to the docks (in case they are already at full capacity). One way to avoid having to do this is to follow the rules and call in on time.

We recognize that every once in a while, "stuff happens," and you might forget to call or you call late. Sometimes, we can accommodate requests that fall outside the rules. IF we are able to fulfill your request, please note that this is an additional service, and we will be charging a fee if we launch your boat in violation of the Call-In Rules.

A hard copy of this notice will be mailed to all DLM Customers this week. If you have any questions regarding these modifications to your DLM Contract, please call or email Gary. Thank you for your cooperation. We hope these changes will make things work a little better for everyone concerned.

The Boat Place

Please wear a face covering while walking on the docks to and from your boat. The docks are only 4 feet wide, so 6 feet social distancing cannot be maintained while passing someone else.

You must also wear a face covering when entering the office for any reason. If you do not have a mask, please knock on the door and we will meet you outside the office.
