Holy Communion with our Online Worship!

Preparation Suggestions Below

We will continue celebrating Holy Communion again this Sunday, June 14! Before our Online Worship begins, we suggest you set up a cup of wine or grape juice, and a small plate with a piece of bread or a cracker. You might also like to add a flower or a candle - or both! - to make it feel special.  You could lay down a nice napkin or place a covering over the cup and plate.

What is most important is that you are present for this holy sacrament, and the people of God are praying together.

Second Mile Giving

“Second-mile giving” refers to an extra offering toward a special cause. Our second mile giving for June goes to California Lutheran University. Cal Lutheran is home to more than 3,078 undergraduate and 1,324 graduate students who come from more than 49 countries and represent a wide variety of faiths. Both in and out of the classroom, everyone at Cal Lutheran is committed to helping each student pursue their passions to discover their purpose, and follow that purpose to transform their community—and the world.

Offering can be given through Tithe.Ly or mailed to the Church Office at 504 Baker St.
*If donating to Second Mile Giving, please note "2nd Mile: Cal Lutheran" in your preferred offering method. Thanks!

For your reference, current Guidance for Places of Worship protocols and limitations include; 25% capacity for seating, masks are required, singing is highly discouraged, hand sanitizer dispensers need to be installed, temperature screening required, a site specific plan needs to be written, staff and volunteers trained, and fellowship time is discouraged.

A Social Seating Chart has been drawn; you can view it here.

Please be assured that online worship services will continue even after we begin holding services in the church building.

Elim Reopening Update - Possibly August

The Leadership Team has reviewed information regarding reopening from The CA Department of Public Health, Sonoma County and our Synod Office. It was agreed that Elim would take the recommendation from our Synod Office to wait until the end of July to consider reopening. The LT felt it would take about 2 months to implement the recommended protocols and training of staff and volunteers in any case. Another concern was how the current rules and procedures could diminish enjoyment of in person worship.

Guidance for Places of Worship protocols and limitations include; 25% capacity for seating, masks are required, singing is highly discouraged, hand sanitizer dispensers need to be installed, temperature screening required, a site specific plan needs to be written, staff and volunteers trained, and fellowship time is discouraged. LT is hopeful that by the end of July there will be fewer restrictions.

If you have any questions, please contact Roger Davis.

Thank you!

To our Elim Family and Friends,
As you may already know, the R3 2020 New Orleans service trip has been cancelled due to the Covid situation. We really thought this year would be the 2019 Hurricane Barry redux trip, but it seems God has other plans for us! We want to take a moment and let you know how grateful we are for your continued and generous support over the years! The ongoing Hurricane Katrina rebuilding efforts through SBP and partner volunteers like us are helping to change the lives of so many. We couldn’t have done it without you! We are excited to see what new adventures in service our future will bring.
With thanks and appreciation,
The R3 Team, Rebuild Recover Restore

Big thanks to our volunteers all around for helping with our growing harvest and premiering our first farmstand of the season! We were so happy to see new and familiar faces supporting the Bounty. Help us harvest produce and tackle various farm tasks by signing up for a volunteer slot hereVolunteer hours are Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 am -12 pm or Thursdays from 3-6 pm.

In community,

ELCA Commitment to Combat Racism and White Supremacy

What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8).

The ELCA reaffirms its commitment to combating racism and white supremacy following the recent murders of Black Americans. Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Dreasjon (Sean) Reed, and George Floyd were our neighbors. Ahmaud Arbery was chased down, shot, and killed by a retired police officer and his son while jogging in Brunswick, Ga. (Feb. 23, 2020). Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old emergency medical technician, was shot eight times by Louisville Metro Police Department officers who entered her apartment while serving a "no-knock warrant" (March 13, 2020). Dreasjon (Sean) Reed, a 21-year-old from Indianapolis died after being shot at least eight times by an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer (May 6, 2020). George Floyd was killed by police in Minneapolis while begging for his life, a block away from Calvary Lutheran, an ELCA congregation (May 25, 2020). As the Conference of Bishops, we condemn the white supremacy that has led to the deaths of so many unarmed Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Color in our country. We grieve with, pray for and stand in solidarity with the families and friends of all whose loved ones have been and continue to be victims of injustices run amok, racist violence and the insidious venom of white supremacy.

Support PPSC During the COVID-19 Pandemic

PPSC is working tirelessly to make sure that our seniors and other at-risk community members are safe and taken care of.

Our support efforts during the pandemic include: Expanded Meals on Wheels routes, newly launched "You Are Not Alone"program,  counselors are working to provide online therapy sessions, working to keep our clients in their homes and to help them navigate the processes for filing for unemployment, disability & medical leave, and more.

For those of you with the means to do so, please donate what you can to help us continue to expand the essential services to a community in need, and to keep the lights on and make sure that our hard-working staff is paid during these rocky economic times.

ELCA COVID-19 Response Fund

Weeks may have passed since you last walked in the doors of your congregation and worshiped, face-to-face, with your community of faith. To be sure, being the body of Christ looks and feels differently than it ever has before.

With congregations and ministries across the country, and a network of companion churches and partners in over 70 countries around the world, we anticipate this crisis will affect us all. Your gifts to the ELCA’s COVID-19 Response Fund will provide funds to the ministries of the ELCA most in need and best positioned to help. This includes our congregations as well as local and churchwide ministries capable of reaching and assisting those in need. If you are able, please help with a gift today. Donate Now
