Two songs have keep clanging around in my head-"It's so Hard to Say Goodbye" by Boyz II Men and the hymn "God Be With You 'Til We Meet Again". After 8 years of being your pastor, it is time for me to say good-bye.
It has been a great joy and honor to be your pastor. You have shared immense amounts of God's grace with me and taught me so much about myself, ministry, and just life in general. I had the privilege of being a part of many holy moments with so many of you - joyful holy moments, sorrowful holy moments, and hard holy moments. You accepted my family, cared for and taught my children, and sometimes even laughed with this crazy lady preacher who has a whole mess of kids and a husband that travels most weekends. Thank you.
As we spend 3 more Sundays together, I hope we will remember all the good that God has done over the last 8 years. We are the people of God and even in the midst of pandemics and change, God continues to make all things new. On June 21st, we will celebrate God's unending love for us with the Sacrament of Holy Communion. As we consecrate the individual servings of Bread and Cup, we will also officially bless the new Ellis Community Blessing Box.
Know that I continue to pray for Mount Tabor as you welcome Rev. Roger Weisner with the same warmth you welcomed me. Although I know that making a pastoral transition during this pandemic is certainly odd and awkward, I am confident that God's grace will see you and Roger through. God is with the people of Mount Tabor. I have been blessed in serving with you. Grace and peace to you.
