Hello from everyone at Birmingham Community Matters
How can July be here already? We hope you are doing well.
Would you - or someone you know - like support with improving funding applications?
We're holding an interactive group session with fundraising expert John Ellery of Get Grants on Wednesday 22 July at 2pm.
In the online workshop (held on Zoom), John will provide feedback on your funding application, and give you tips on completing future applications.
Before the date you will need to send us either:
* A funding application that you are currently working on
or
* An application that has been unsuccessful.
(If you secure a place, we will contact you to ask for one of the above.)
Please note: places are limited so we will give priority to community groups and very small organisations and charities (for example, those with one or no paid staff).
We will let you know as soon as possible if you are successful in securing a place.
Online surgeries
You can book online surgeries with us if you have a challenge or question you'd like to work through regarding your community group, project or idea. We are planning a quieter spell through August, in order to recharge and make plans for the autumn, but we are always here for you at the end of an email (you can even reply to this one if you want).
We're still regularly updating this page of resources for community groups responding to the health crisis - including details of grants, research into impact, information on managing volunteers and more.
The information we've been receiving (and adding) lately has a greater emphasis on continuity and recovery, which is reassuring. We plan for the page to evolve into a suite of useful resources for the day-to-day setup and running of community groups and projects.
We will soon be running peer support meetings for groups running community buildings.
If you are from a voluntary group that manages a community building and would like to take part, drop us a line (you can reply to this email if you want). We'll also send details nearer the time.
Hodge Hill Neighbourhood Network Scheme:
small community grants now available
Hodge Hill Neighbourhood Network Scheme's small community grants programme is open for applications in response to the coronavirus pandemic and beyond. Each application can be up to £10,000.
This fund is for community groups or projects operating within the Hodge Hill constituency (wards: Alum Rock, Bromford & Hodge Hill, Bordesley Green, Bordesley Green and Highgate, Glebe Farm & Tile Cross, Heartlands, Shard End, Small Heath and Ward End)
The grant scheme exists to increase the number of older people participating in community activities in their neighbourhood and, in doing so, either prevent or reduce social isolation and loneliness.
Thank you for subscribing to our mailing list. We'll be back next month with further useful info.
In the meantime keep us posted on your community updates and success stories via our social media channels. Or you can reply to this message - there are real people behind it, who are looking forward to hearing from you.
ps. Our privacy policy exists to reassure our subscribers about how we treat their data. You can read it in full here. If ever you don't want us to have your details, please email us: info@birminghamcommunitymatters.org.uk.
