CELEBRATING JUNETEENTH IN PITTSBURGH WITH VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON EVENTS

While this year's Western PA Juneteenth & Black Music Festival has been postponed until the end of August, there are a number of in-person and online events that will still be happening this weekend to celebrate the holiday.

Virtually, join historians and educators for a Facebook Live walking tour of historic Black landmarks in and around Downtown this Friday, June 19 at 1:00 p.m. Starting at Point State Park, the walk will include a history of Pittsburgh as stories are told to illustrate everything from the colonial era and the Underground Railroad to the history of the Hill District. Read more, via WESA, and watch the event live on the Western PA Juneteenth Facebook Page

Additionally, on Friday morning, join the Carnegie Science Center for an online discussion of Black scientists and STEM trailblazers, including Mae Jemison, Katherine Johnson, Leland Melvin, and more.

A number of in-person events are still occurring, as well, including a Car Cruise for Black LGBTQ Liberation. Learn more about the happenings via Pittsburgh City Paper.
