NSF Proposal Deadlines

On June 16, 2020, NSF released the following statement regarding deadlines. "The National Science Foundation is mindful of the challenges many in our country face today. We also are acutely aware that while the research community is dedicated to its work, science may not be at the forefront of everyone’s minds during this particular moment in our nation’s history. With this in mind, NSF has decided to extend some of our upcoming proposal deadlines where possible. Read more and reference the link  which includes a list of deadline extensions.

NIH Summary Statement (eRA Commons)

As of June 24, 2020, the overall impact score and NIH Summary Statement will be available to Authorized Organization Representatives and Signing Officials in eRA Commons. Read NOT-OD-20-126. According to NIH, the system of records was modified to better facilitate award management and communications with applicants.

COGR 2019-2020 Year in Review

The Council on Governmental Relations (COGR) is an association of research universities and affiliated medical centers and independent research institutes. Members of Harvard University and Harvard Medical School are active participants. HMS RA Dashboard Department View

ORA has been working with the IT Systems Group, to refine the Research Administration Dashboard. The RA Dashboard manages workflow, provides information on GMAS requests and notices, creates records for new research agreements and tracks the status of at-risk accounts. We are now ready to release the RA Dashboard Department View. Join us for a one-hour, virtual kick-off meeting on Monday, June 22, 2020, 2:00 PM. To receive Zoom details, contact Tamara Maniscalco. The demo will be recorded for those who cannot attend or need a refresher. Following the kick-off meeting, user accounts will be created and testing starts. Department users will gather notes/comments in the dashboard and meet for feedback sessions with the RA Dashboard Working Group. Questions? RA Dashboard (Departmental View) Projected Timeline:
  • Week of June 22, 2020: Demo/Kick-off, Creation of accounts in stage environment  
  • Week of June 29, 2020: User testing 
  • Week of July 6, 2020: User testing  
  • Weeks of July 13 & July 20, 2020: Feedback sessions with users
  • Week of July 27, 2020: Dashboard released to early adopters
  • Mid-August 2020: School-wide launch to departments

HMS-HSDM Training GMAS Questions International Collaborations

In preparation for the implementation of new questions in GMAS, training will focus on the role of HMS & HSDM grants managers, department administrators, and others who enter proposals. Objectives are to provide the knowledge needed to recognize the importance of each international component; understand responsibilities in the overall process; accurately identify and enter international components.
