MINISTER'S MESSAGE
GREETINGS FROM REV IRIS

Dear Living Faith Uniting Church Family and Friends

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." Psalm 119:105 ESV

Who can guess where this photo above was taken? No, It was not taken in Israel....it was taken in our church gardens. Well done to those who guessed right! Our church, in fact the global church, is on a new and still-to-be chartered path. Yet the message remains the same - Jesus is the light of the world. He is the way, the truth and the life. Through Him, we are given directions for the paths He wants us to take. Many times though, our way seem hazy, unclear, disorientating or uncertain.

Scripture lights our way, points us in the direction we should go and removes fear as we proceed in faith. All to often our lives become consumed with anxiety. Yet a stroll through the Psalms could give us the peace we so desperately need for our journeys. Why not forsake worry and instead commit the road ahead of you to Jesus in this very moment?

We are delighted to welcome Estelle Cox as a member to our Living Faith Uniting Church family. We celebrate virtually now, but will rejoice with all new members once we are able to meet again. On the topic of membership, I want to encourage you to undertake the Foundations Course on our website (under "Online Ministry"). This course is a wonderful reviser of all that we believe as Christians, and potential membership is offered after completion of the course. Get in touch with me to find out more.

I am also excited to let you know that through a series of open doors, we are able to bring to you a profound message of hope on Sunday 5 July. Rev Trevor Hudson, an international Christian speaker and author with over 40 years experience as a minister in the Methodist Church, will be sharing a special word with us. This has been made possible through collaborating with Gracepoint Church in Johannesburg, South Africa. Trevor's ministry has impacted people around the world and we are so blessed to be able to hear him speak. Be sure to tune in and spread the word to family and friends.

I want to encourage us all to begin meeting with each other online during the lock-down period. If you are keen to meet with friends or congregation members via the internet (Zoom Meetings) but you don't have the skills on how to do this, Richard Linton has kindly offered to provide technical support to assist you. Please call him on 0402 725 002 to get meeting with others for Bible Studies or general chats.

Even during Covid19, God is actively using each of us to spread His love and Good News. We have had word that our online services are being watched by folk in the U.K. God is not limited by human time or space. Speaking of time, this Sunday's message (28 June) will focus on God's perfect timing in our lives. I look forward to "seeing" you there!

Your friend,
Iris
THE NBN "PITFALL"
It was an interesting week as a team of blokes came to investigate the setting up of the NBN for our church. Last Friday you may recall that my message was on the pit where Jesus was placed the night before His arrest. Well, the NBN chaps having no knowledge of this message, told me last Friday that they were struggling to find a "pit" in our church grounds, where all the vital NBN related cabling lay. They needed to locate the "pit" in order to power-up the internet for our building. As they were gathered in a circle I prayed for them and our gracious God came through and the "pit" was located. Even within the "pitfalls" of life - God is powerfully working to bring us up and into the light of day. In this case, the light of the internet! All glory and praise goes to God!

HOUSE GUESTS - Regular LFUC visitors, Paul and Sandra J from Moggill, are proud to introduce you to these two gorgeous ladies - Henrietta and Victoria. These gals are apparently a little "manic" and they "egg" each other on! One of these is quite a character - for the first two weeks she hid her eggs behind a lavender plant in their garden. A chicken with an attitude who thinks outside the "egg box"! They specialise in scratching the flower beds and making a glorious mess, but a new chicken run means they are free range for only a few hours a day to limit the chaos!
Just for fun, if you would like to share a picture of a pet that is keeping you company while in self-isolation, send the photo to irismarais@gmail.com and we'll publish them in upcoming newsletters
