The Compañía Nacional de Danza (CND) returns to the stage at the hand of the Festival de Granada with a programme paying tribute to the national health workers and for their commitment and professionalism throughout the COVID-19 crisis. The programme also marks the return of Joaquín De Luz, in A Suite of Dances, by Jerome Robbins, and includes Arriaga, a homage to the Bilbao-born musician Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga; a co-production between the Festival de Granada and the CND.
Joaquín De Luz, CND director since September 2019, danced A Suite of Dances for years at the New York City Ballet, his former artistic home. With this piece he returns to the stage for the first time since taking the helm at the CND. And it also marks the entire CND’s return to the stage since Spain’s COVID-19 lockdown. The programme also includes: Festival de las flores en Genzano, by August Bournonville; Love Fear Loss, by Ricardo Amarante and the aforementioned premiere of Arriaga, choreographed by Mar Aguiló, Pino Alosa and Joaquín De Luz.
