Year 10 History lessons on Google Classrooms
Dear Parents/Carers,

Firstly, and most importantly I hope you and your families are well.

Since the beginning of lockdown all of the GCSE history lessons have been published on Google Classroom. I have attempted to strike a balance between introducing new content and recapping topics already taught to prepare students for their GCSE exams.  The records that have been submitted to me indicate that your son / daughter has not engaged or has engaged in very few lessons to date.  I totally appreciate the difficult circumstances that some of you must be under and the purpose of this is not to add to any existing anxiety levels but rather outline the support on offer.

At present the exam content for History has not been reduced, which means that if students do not cover the content of these lessons we will have little time to revisit it. Needless to say this will compound the pressure they are under at the same time as significantly affecting their potential grades.

However, it is not too late!

A full guide on how to sign up to Google classroom can be found here including videos to follow:

If after looking at this guidance a student still can’t log on or have forgotten their password, then please email:

Students can contact me through the classroom and if you have any issues that are history related you can email me at any time:

I fully appreciate that logging into a classroom and seeing over 20 lessons that have been ignored can be intimidating and might only add to the attempt to continue to ignore the work hoping it will go away!  If your son or daughter hasn’t done anything or has done very little to date, I suggest that the following structure is followed:
  1. they ignore the revision sessions on SENECA until they have caught up with themselves;
  2. they go back and read the online book Superpowers and the Cold war up to p39 (See the getting started guide in the classroom for access code) this will enable them to understand the context of the lessons. This could also watch the GCSE POD playlist clips that I have put together: click here
  3. they start with the most recent weeks’ lesson and do the new lesson every week
  4. when they have time they then go back and do the previous lessons (starting at lesson 1) and catch up slowly when they can;
  5. when they are up to date they can do the SENECA revision resources which will help them revise for their exams.
If there is anything I can do please do not hesitate to contact me.

Many thanks,

Mr Carpenter
