While there were lots of spiritual growth lessons learned during our adoption journey, the one I want to talk about is actually what drove us to adopt in the first place. That story starts about 30 years ago when Jen and I were contemplating marriage and planning what our family would look like. 

Years ago a homeless four year old girl was living on the street, in a car [when they had one] and in public shelters was asked by her also homeless mother, if she would like to live in a place that had all the food she could ever want, her own bedroom, a place to keep her stuff safe and no one would steal her only doll? The little girl looked up, puzzled and said, “Momma, is there such a place?”
