Happy Juneteenth Interfaith Friends!

In this week's email, we share ways you can help our community that are related to both COVID-19 and the Black Lives Matter movement. At the end of this email, you will find a reminder about the Spirituality Book of the Month Club. As always, we encourage you to share this information with your faith communities and agencies.

Urgent Need for Commercial Space for Temporary Shelter Use:
Shelter At The Aztlan Center Closes Today

Service providers have been providing day, evening, and overnight shelter coupled with health screenings for people experiencing homelessness at the Northside Aztlan Community Center since the COVID-19 pandemic started in mid-March. The City was able to provide that space temporarily and now has to move shelter out of Aztlan to allow for childcare, summer camps, and other regular programming. This large space has been effective for providing services and health screenings to people experiencing homelessness, so we are hoping to find a big gym or ballroom-like space to continue to provide shelter that allows for physical distancing.

If you have a facility that is ready for renovation or closed for some reason, and/or a big dining room, meeting room, or other large space that isn’t being used, that could potentially be used as a temporary sheltering space, please contact Beth Sowder, City of Fort Collins Social Sustainability Department Director, bsowder@fcgov.com or 970-221-6752. Thank you!

Project Self Sufficiency Has Many Services Available
Project Self-Sufficiency is a nonprofit in Larimer County that works with single parents. Our primary goal is higher education and career related employment to ensure single parents have the knowledge and skills to be financially independent for their families. Our services have not ended despite the COVID-19 pandemic! We are still available to meet with new applicants and participants via phone and virtual meetings. We have seen an increased need for our services and have risen to meet the needs of our community.  Additionally, we are hosting presentations to organizations in our community to reach a broader scope of potential applicants at this trying time. To find out more please visit us at http://bringthepower.org/about-us/ To request an informational presentation, please contact Amanda Orozco and Sarah Wooldridge at amanda@bringthepower.org and sarah@bringthepower.org.
