Sunday marks the first ordinary Sunday for quite some time. The solemity of Lent and the festivities of Easter are over, we have celebrated Pentecost, Trinity Sunday and Corpus Christi, and now, punctuated by the odd feast (Peter and Paul next week), we return to Ordinary time and the familar green of the altar and vestments.
Do join us at 10 tomorrow for Mass, brought to you by Brenda our preacher, Fr Ben, William Tamale, Lilly, John Douglas, Anna our pianist, and Clem and Charlotte our singers.
We will be opening Holy Innocents for private prayer in one week, on Saturday 27th June.
The church will be open from 12-1pm on Saturdays and Sundays
and from 6-7pm Monday to Friday.
There will be a maximum of 30 people allowed in church. The toilets and the kitchen will be closed.
Please enter via the drive (not the steps), walk round to the glass porch and enter there. Please use hand sanitiser on entry and exit and sit only in the designated seats. Follow the one way system and exit via the wooden door next to the tower and down the steps into the street.
Unfortunately you will not be able to light candles, although by request Fr Ben can light a candle for you.
Please do not come to church if you are in any way sick or have any symptoms.
Volunteers
If you are under 70 with no underlying health condition which might lead you to shield, we would love you to volunteer. We need two volunteers per session.
Volunteering will include managing the flow of people and cleaning the church afterwards. We will offer full training. Each session should last two hours with half an hour to set up, an hour's opening and half an hour to clean after.
The easiest thing would be if you were able to volunteer on the same day each week (although of course we realise people will be away the odd week on holiday!) If you would like to volunteer please let me know which days would work for you.
Cleaning the Church
On Monday we have hired some professional cleaners to give the church a good clean. This, along with buying the equipment the church needs to open up (cleaning materials for ongoing cleaning, hand sanitizer, pedal bins, PPE etc) has cost approximately 800 pounds. If you feel you could make a donation towards this cost we would be grateful. Please click here or use the giving page at the bottom of this email, or let me know if you would like to donate in some other way.
Church Closing
After the cleaning on Monday, we will close the church completely for 72 hours - therefore on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday there will be no live streamed Mass. If you would like to continue daily mass, please join our friends at Hornsey Parish Church or Holy Trinity.
Holy Trinity have a zoom mass on Tuesday, I will circulate the details for anybody interested.
Women in the New Testament: Bible Study
Clem and Lucy are hosting a zoom bible study on women in the New Testament each Wednesday evening. If you would like to join, email Clem on clem.holyinnocents@gmail.com. Each session is stand alone, so don't worry if you can't make them all.
Help keep Holy Innocents going during the lockdown
This has been a difficult time for us financially, losing nearly all the income we would have got through Sunday collections. We realise this is a tough time for everybody, and want to give heartfelt thanks to those who have already given so generously and continue to do so each month. If you could support us, please click on this link to go to our giving page
