Hello Denver Writers!

We still have space available in our upcoming online summer camps, including Story Magic, which starts THIS Monday at 10 am and Sci-Fi and Steampunk, starting July 13th!

We have more workshops coming up! Sound, Rhythm, and Rhyme on Saturday June 27th (SIGN UP HERE) and an illustration workshop, Bringing the Imagined to Life: Designing Your Own Character on July 11th. Additional information to follow.

In other news, we have decided to cancel our Patreon, due to them changing the way they process payments and adding additional fees, if you’re still interested in donating to Denver Writes on a regular basis, follow this link, click on the PayPal donate button, select an amount, and click the make this a monthly donation box. Sound, Rhythm, and Rhyme

JUNE 27th, 2020

from 10 -11 am

In this one-hour Zoom workshop, we’ll be asking the question: How can we use sound, rhythm, and rhyme to create meaning and mood?

We’ll try out nonsense poems, alliteration, assonance, and consonance. We’ll also look at how poetry is used in songs. If songwriting is your thing, you can try writing a chorus, verse, and bridge. Have fun, experiment, and share some sound-based poems.

Bringing the Imagined to Life: Designing Your Own Character

JULY 11th, 2020

from 10 – 11 am!

Utilizing principles of animation, join comic artist Nicky Rodriguez as she helps you bring your imagined characters to life by learning who they are and experimenting with how they look and interact with the world around them.

Story Magic!

June 22nd – 26th, 10am – 11 am, ages 8 – 12

In this weeklong Zoom summer camp, we’ll break the laws of physics and turn everyday reality on its head. Think flying girls and time-traveling boys. Think talking animals and transformation. Each one-hour Zoom session will include writing prompts and time to share our works-in-progress with our friends, and I’ll provide a few additional writing prompts each day so you can keep writing on your own!

Sci-Fi and Steampunk!

July 13th – 17th, 1 pm – 2 pm, ages 12 – 18

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a stranger in a strange land? Do you yearn to go boldly where no others have gone before? In this week-long Zoom camp we will explore the genres of sci-go and steampunk as we look backward to look forward and envisions worlds beyond our wildest dreams. Every session we will flex our creative muscles and share our creations with one another, and further enrichment will be provided between sessions as well!

Because the creative writing club features many of our writers working on independent projects we do suggest ages 10 and up. To sign up and be added to our regular zoom writing group emails, fill out this form.
