Green Built Guide | June 2020

Reserve Ad By Friday's Deadline, Renew Membership This Week For 2020 Green Building Directory

This is the last week to confirm presence in our 2020 Green Building Directory. With 25,000 copies distributed at 100 spots in Western North Carolina, this directory is a great way to share your company's offerings in the broader community and market your brand for high visibility in a targeted demographic.

It has been proven to be especially effective to market your business during challenging periods, and that times of change like this one are ripe opportunities for increasing your market share. We hope you'll choose to continue representing your business as an active member of the green-building and sustainability community through your presence in our annual directory.

Be sure to act this week to confirm your membership is current or place an ad before deadline.
  • Place an ad or enhance your listing. Click here to review ad rates, then save your space by emailing hylah@smokymountainnews.com. The final advertising deadline is June 26.
  • Become a member. Whether you're joining for the first time or renewing after a lapse, there's no better time to become a member  and benefit from the marketing exposure. Email cari@greenbuilt.org to confirm your place. To appear in our 2020 directory, your membership must be current as of July 1.

These unusual times present an unparalleled opportunity to position your company for future growth. Confirm your presence in our directory and help us continue advancing community awareness of green building, sustainability and your company.

Green Built Homes Rolls Out New Version of Certification Checklist

Green Built Alliance is thrilled to announce the release of Green Built Homes Version 3.0, updated and revised to stay current with changing building codes and increase simplicity for participants. Homes registered after January 1, 2021 will be required to use the new checklist.

Green Built Homes is now leaner and greener. Many items that are now standard construction practices have been removed from our checklist, while we have added opportunities to gain points for new technologies.

The sections have been overhauled to be more streamlined and organized. The point system and levels have been adjusted to reflect the changes.

Thanks to funding from the Kendeda Foundation, the program now places more emphasis on regenerative elements, including the addition of a Net Zero Water Ready Certification and a pilot Regenerative Certification. For easy reference, all items considered regenerative are highlighted in green across the checklist.

EXPLORE THE FULL UPDATED CHECKLIST HERE

Two New Prerequisites:

  • Baths with showers must be tested to exhaust 50 CFM intermittent or 20 CFM continuous
  • CFL or LED light bulbs must be installed in 75 percent of lamps in permanent lighting fixtures (consistent with code)

Please review the new version and contact us or your rater to discuss how it will affect your future projects!
