Good luck to Coach Bo Coln and Mrs. Belissa Howard as they move to principal positions! Coach Coln is now the principal at Challenger Middle School. Mrs. Howard is now the principal at Dawson Elementary School. We will miss both as assistant principals at GHS!
Seniors/Graduation
As you already know, our graduation on Thursday, June 25, 2020, will be split into two sessions to allow for seating of the graduates. Students with the last name beginning with A-K will graduate at 5:00 p.m. Students with the last name beginning with L-Z will graduate at 7:00 p.m. Students should arrive at 3:45 p.m. for the first session and 5:45 p.m. for the second session. We will not have a practice, so we will need plenty of time to line up the students and there will be security checks and temperature checks.
The four additional Graduation Tickets (total of 8) may be picked up tomorrow between 8-11 AT THE FRONT ENTRANCE of Grissom High School.
Graduation attire has traditionally been as follows:
Girls: Dresses (black for this year) with black shoes. With the black robes, we are planning to wear the collar or a collared shirt.
Boys: Khaki or black pants. Collared shirts
**No flip flops or any shoes that may be difficult to walk in on stairs and stage.

BOE Approved: The HCS Board of Education approved a revised calendar for the 2020-2021 school year. The revised calendar follows ALSDE recommendations in pushing back the first day of school. Nov. 23-24, 2020 will be e-learning days based on feedback from stakeholders.
Additionally, the BOE approved Huntsville Virtual Academy, an online learning experience for students, beginning this August. Registration opens Friday, June 5, 2020. Learn more by visiting huntsvillecityschools.org/hva.

Attention AP students for 2020-21.
Some of our AP courses offer optional summer warm up activities to get your brain in gear for the new year. If you are taking an AP course that has summer assignments, the easiest way for those teachers to send you the information is through your HCS email. Please check that email periodically over the summer, and email the AP teacher if you have any questions.

-Lakewood Elementary (3501 Kenwood Drive): 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
-Morris Schools (4801 Bob Wallace Ave.): 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
-Lee High (2500 Meridian St.): 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
-Dr. Richard Showers Splash Pad (4600 Blue Spring Rd NW): 11 am–12:30 p.m.
-Brahan Springs Splash Pad (3771 Ivy Ave. SW): 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.
Students may walk or ride with their families to curbside meal service locations, according to organizers.
