Develop with ease

It's now easier than ever to add and modify filters in FTW. The documentation site is now searchable, with a tutorial and a design toolkit.

Hi <<First name>>!

Whether you're a non-technical marketplace founder or a skilled developer, you want to spend your development resources as efficiently as possible. Our goal with Sharetribe Flex is to create a delightful developer experience so that building your unique marketplace is fast, affordable, and enjoyable.

In the past three months, we’ve released several new improvements to make Flex’s developer experience even smoother.

Improved filter setup

Previously, the task of adding, removing, or adjusting search filters was relatively time-consuming. The latest changes to Flex Templates for Web make filter configuration a breeze. There's a new configuration file that allows you to add, remove, and adjust filters using the default FTW components by simply changing a couple of lines. The GIF below shows how this is done.

New documentation site with easier navigation

The Sharetribe Flex documentation site, Flex Docs, was recently revamped. The old site was lacking in terms of navigation functionality, and as the volume of content grew, more structure was needed. The new site includes a sidebar and a rethought category structure, which makes navigation easy. The site now also features a search.

New tutorial section

The Flex Docs got a new tutorial section. It includes a series of step-by-step articles that guide you through the process of turning FTW-daily into a custom marketplace. For now, the tutorials only include the most typical customizations to your user interface. More advanced customizations to the transaction process or the Integration API will be covered in future additions.

Design toolkit

Another new section in the Flex Docs is the Design Toolkit. It offers a set of handy tools that are helpful for both developers and non-developers. They help you design the journey your users take through your marketplace and map it to Flex concepts. Doing so makes it easy to develop the site yourself or to communicate your requirements to a developer. The section also includes the design files of Flex Template for Web, which allow you to quickly create new designs on top of FTW using Sketch, Adobe XD, or Figma.

Have fun developing!

We hope these latest additions make Flex development an even more enjoyable experience than before and allow you to build and adapt your marketplace quicker and more efficiently than ever.
