Barrington Public Library Update
Good morning!

I hope everyone had a nice weekend and got to enjoy the beautiful weather! Just a quick update to let everyone know that we are now accepting returns to the outdoor drop box only, effective Monday, June 15, 2020. We encourage patrons to return any books, DVDs, videogames and music CDs (no creation or activity kits at this time) so that we can start processing all of the materials that are currently checked out. A few tips and reminders about returning your items:
  • All items must be returned in the outdoor drop box. Please do not put your items in a bag.
  • All items have been renewed through June 30th. If you are unable to return your items by this date, please give us a call!
  • Materials will not be checked in until they have been through our quarantine process so do not be alarmed if you still see items on your library card- it will take a few days!
  • Fines continue not to be accrued during this time and have not been since March 16th.
  • If the outdoor drop box is full, please do not leave your items on the ground or on top of the drop box.
    • We will be emptying the box several times a day Monday through Friday.
    • Should the box be full- please hold on to your items until the next business day. We would hate to have our items be subjected to the elements or damaged or stolen.
It’s important to us to be able to have the time to properly process and disinfect library materials before we resume curbside pickup services (Phase 2). But do not fear!!! We are planning on starting this as soon as possible and will send out another newsletter with that information!

There is a lot of planning that goes into reopening libraries along with establishing a system that allows for a high level of safety for patrons and staff, thus making reopening plans very individualized as no two libraries are exactly the same. Reopening plans across the state are the result of collaborations between staff members, directors, Boards of Trustees, and legal representation. Our reopening plan also takes into consideration the guidelines and recommendations given by the Governor and the State’s Universal Guidelines, the CDC, and the Reopening NH Libraries Task Force.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call 603-664-9715. Staff are in the building as follow:
                      Monday, Wednesday- 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
                      Tuesday, Thursday-  12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
                      Friday- 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation! We greatly appreciate our patrons and are looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

Melissa Huette and BPL Staff
