Catching up with our graduates

We LOVE hearing success stories and Christian is just that! Christian graduated from our very first Tools for Success program and was paired with Southeast Restoration for employment as a mitigation technician. Christian has just surpassed his one-year anniversary at Southeast. In that time, he's been able to complete two certifications, has multiple good reviews from customers and has been promoted to Lead Technician! That's quite the accomplishment!

We reached out to Christian to get his thoughts on how things were going in his new career and how he's put the skills he learned in Tools for Success into practice.  "Problem solving is something I am forced to use daily in my position. I learned to stay calm, keep an open mind and to think clearly about each plan of action to help execute the most viable option. In my position at Southeast this can be the difference between a satisfied or dissatisfied customer. I love knowing that I can use my skills to help the community when disaster strikes. That's what puts a smile on my face every day! "

"My advice for the future participants of Tools for Success would be to find what you love to do and stay focused. Always work at your very best and set goals for yourself. Tools for Success will give you so many new skills that are very helpful when starting a career but without a drive and goals to work towards, it is hard to push yourself towards success."

We are SO proud of you Christian and we look forward to hearing more of these updates in the future!

Ella Stewart graduated from Tools for Success last June and was immediately employed with Universal Alloy Corporation in Canton. While she worked at UAC Ella says the skills, she learned in Tools for Success directly influenced the quality and professionalism of her work. Unfortunately, due to cutbacks during the recent pandemic Ella is no longer employed with UAC. She values the time she spent there and  she's grateful for the wonderful opportunity she was given. She gained valuable insights while under their employment.

One lesson that Ella learned while in Tools for Success is  "Passion Persuades".  Ella is now focused on finding her passion. "I want to spend the rest of my life doing something that I am passionate about! I've come to realize that work stops feeling like work when you are really passionate about something!"

When asked what advice she'd give future participants Ella's response was " I hope that future participants understand the value in the Tools for Success program. This program allowed me to see beyond the average possibilities and imagine the achievements I could accomplish if I worked hard and educated myself on skills."

Ella, we have no doubt that you'll continue to succeed no matter the path that you take. We're grateful to have had the opportunity to play a small part in your journey of finding a career!
