2020-2021 PTA Board:
Welcome to our PTA Board members serving second terms and those new to the board! We still have three open positions if you are interested in serving our school. Here's who PTA members elected at our May general membership meeting:

We still need volunteers for the incoming board! We need two VPs of Fundraising, and one more volunteer for VP of Communications. Parent Krizella de Leon has volunteered for one of the VP of Communications positions, and will be appointed by the board at its July meeting.
We also need a PTA Membership Committee Chair and committee members. The Membership chair leads the membership drive each fall, puts membership signs on faculty and staff doors, attends board meetings and uses MemberHub.
Another open position is Board Advisory Council representative. This volunteer is not a board member but welcome at board meetings and expected to share information about what is going on at WCPSS Northwestern district Board Advisory Council meetings.

Outgoing board:
This is your Hawk Talk editor Dawn Vaughan, signing off after the past two years as PTA Vice President of Communications. I've also enjoyed running our PTA Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts and decorating our bulletin boards at school. You'll see a few more of those social posts from me before my term is up June 30. Much thanks to volunteer Nissa Byrne for all her work on the PTA website. Starting in July, PTA Communications will be by 2020-21 board members. I look forward to remaining involved as the 25th Anniversary Committee co-chair and volunteering in a variety of ways next year.

Because of uncertainty this summer, instead of the annual Popsicles on the Playground for the school and PTA to welcome kindergarten Hawks, we will have Popsicles in the Parking Lot. All rising Kindergarten Hawks and their families are invited.

Hilburt the Hawk
Thank you to our hundreds of students and staff who voted for our new Hawk mascot name as part of our 25th Anniversary celebration. Our Hawk mascot is now named Hilburt!
Anniversary mural, time capsule, keychains to come
This fall, watch for a new Hawksome 25th Anniversary mural outside the cafeteria, designed by art teacher Ms. Cleveland. We're excited to see a blank wall transformed into awesome art.
Students will also receive a glow in the dark 25th Anniversary keychain, courtesy of PTA, at the start of the school year.
While Hawk Homecoming had to be canceled, we will still find a way to have a Time Capsule Dedication ceremony this coming school year.
