The Club for Owners and Enthusiasts of Britain’s finest specialist car manufacturer”

No 17. June 2020

The RMC Winners

What a few months it has been, in our March newsletter we were just heading towards a lockdown in the UK and here we are 3 months later with restrictions from the lockdown slowly being lifted. I imagine that like us, many car owners haven't visited a garage for fuel in months, we last went in March and as a result of working from home, we still have just over half a tank left - just think how much less we would have used if the car was a Reliant 3-wheeler!

It has been a very strange time and our thoughts go out to all those who have been affected by the Corona virus Covid-19 in one way or another.

It hasn't all been doom and gloom though, activity on our website has been at an all time high and our first virtual rally held last April was a huge success.  We saw just over 500 people taking part on the day and even had the Mayor of Tamworth drop in to welcome everyone.  The event was such a success that we decided that the winners of all the virtual rallies would receive a real trophy.  Things were slightly hindered due to the lockdown restrictions although real trophies were purchased and sent out.  We understand they created a lot of smiles once received, especially from Geoff Ward who was our overall winner.  Our congratulations go to everyone who won a trophy and indeed our sincere thanks go to all those who took part in the rally.  You can read more about the rally and discover all the RMC winners in our June magazine due this month.

For those who have asked will we be arranging another virtual rally, the answer is most definitely yes, we will be making it an annual event and full details for the next one will be detailed in both our newsletters and on our website.

Stay safe and take care,

Caroline

RMC Secretary
Just some of the real trophies presented after out first Virtual Reliant Rally last April. with the main overall winner trophy in the centre.  For a full list of who won trophies see our  latest  club magazine that will be released by the end of the month.
RMC Heritage Certificates

When it comes to heritage certificates for Reliants, they are pretty much impossible to get as it is believed that all manufacturing records have been destroyed over the years.  Earlier this month Elvis had an astonishing discovery when he was contacted by someone selling Reliant memorabilia that once belonged to a former Reliant employee.  Amongst the general items that Elvis bought, was a large black  A4 notebook that contains manufacturing records for the Scimitar GT (SE4) from July 1965 to December 1966. This means that the RMC is now able to provide a heritage certificate  service for these vehicles. Visit our website for more details.
FBHVC News

There was a very positive article on our virtual rally in the FBHVC News magazine,  The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs thanked the RMC stating, "Thank you very much to the Reliant Motor Club for sharing their great initiative to give their many members (and non-members) a boost in these current circumstances.  Maybe other clubs may wish to try something similar?
