Considerations

Fair to say that we're 100% up and running now in terms of matches and trainings. Of course we all miss the hours that takes part in or around the clubhouse, but considering many of us thought back in March that we would not be able to play a single ball this season, we're in a quite luxury position for a couple of reasons.

All members are able to train. The juniors train at least twice a week, the seniors once or twice. A big thank you to all coaches involved, your contributions are invaluable!
All members are able to play matches on our main ground. The juniors on Saturday morning/ afternoon and the seniors later on Saturday and on Sunday. This week we announced the start of the Muco & Friends T20 Premier League (below in this news letter you can find more info). And we're organising something similar for the older juniors and the non-selection seniors (Zami, Zomi, VCC 4) on Saturdays. We're lucky that we have so many members we can play two different 4-team leagues (with some help of company cricket teams). On the website there are fixture lists for both Leagues. Ball sponsor for three balls during the first weekend is the Mulder family!
Without international matches the grass wicket can accomodate more matches and it is obvious that everybody really enjoys playing on our beautiful ground on grass. A big thank you here goes to the ground staff and other handy men that -sometimes invisibly-  put in a lot of hours to make this all possible. (the excitement and gratitude to find a socket outside of the clubhouse where you can plug in the remote control of the score board!).
Finally, it is interesting to see that teams like playing fellow club members. Rather than touring the Randstad in silos (individual teams), there is a unique opportunity to get to know your own club members much better!

A lot to be thankful of and proud on. We'll grab the momentum and see if we can make it a great season after all, hoping we can open the club house on July 1. In this newsletter amongst others we'll ask your attention to help run that club house and assist in some facility matters, we'll invite you for an online AGM, we look at our member base and encourage you to bring in even more new cricket loving people.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The postponed AGM of March 17 has now been rescheduled to July 9 (Thursday). As we don't want to take unnessecary risks the meeting will be via a videolink (online).

Who wants to help in and around the clubhouse?

The Board is actively looking for some volunteers that want to take away some of the operational tasks in and around the clubhouse. Especiallly as it looks now the club house may be opened by July 1. An earlier call already yielded three volunteers, do you follow <<Voornaam>>?

How can you get involved?

Visit from the mayor and his alderwoman Sport

Whilst biking through Leidschendam-Voorburg on June 15 Mr Klaas Tigelaar and Mrs Nadine Stemerdink visited a number of sports clubs. They also came to see some members of the VCC Board

What did they discuss?

The Muco & Friends T20 Premier League

In absence of competitive cricket versus other clubs, the Board has initiated two internal leagues.
Eyecatcher is the Muco & Friends T20 Premier League (on Sundays at 1 and 4 pm) with three teams that are a mix of VCC 1, 2 and 3 players and Maersk as company cricket team. Moreover, there is a recreational league for Zami, Zomi, the U17 and HCL (on Saturdays at 3 and 6 pm). On both weekend days there will be ample opportunity to donate for the charity. Full fixture lists can be found here

A double Century?

As it occurs both the number of seniors (men) and the number of juniors approach the magic 100 mark. We're only a few members away from registering the 100th men and the 100th junior, thanks to a steady inflow in both departments. The Board has decided to award both Centurions a one year free membership, so bring in your friends!

Online umpiring and scoring course

There are two online ECB courses available that take you in 90 mins through the elementaries of umpiring and scoring. Highly recommended for all parents and mandatory for all juniors above 15 years. They take about 90 mins each.

The "The Hague T20 Championships"

May 5 came close, the day at which the The Hague T20 championships were to be organised. Would the weather know? Apparently not because unlike all six preceding years it was beautiful weather that day and the ground looked moutwatering good. What a pity, but who knows, there is a bit of hope for 2020. Probably an opportunity for a sponsor to consider namegiving for the years to come of this fantastic event? Express your interest via sponsoring@voorburgcc.nl!

Clinics
Do you know a company that wants a staff or company outing, brainstorming, breakout or team building session? But then "different", stylish, active and really fun? Consider a cricket clinic at the beautiful accommodation of Voorburg CC. For more information, check this or contact the club.
Who wants to join VCC?
VCC is still growing and we want to continue to grow in particular in our junior section. We now have approximately 85 juniors, the goal we have set ourselves for 2020 is to get to at least 100 junior members.
