Indigenous Day of Prayer
Sunday, June 21 is Indigenous Day of Prayer. This year, please remember the recent fifth anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and commit to the ongoing work of reconciliation. There are two new orders of service, "Seven Grandfather Teachings” by Indigenous writer Deb Anderson-Pratt and "Covenant of Reconciliation" by non-Indigenous writer Carolyn Wilson Wynne, that you may like to use. A Light of Peace: Online Prayer Vigil for Korea
June 25, 2020 marks 70 years since the start of the Korean War, which has never officially ended. We invite you to join us on that day for A Light of Peace, an online prayer vigil led by Moderator Richard Bott, with HyeRan Kim-Cragg (Timothy Eaton Memorial Church Associate Professor of Preaching at Emmanuel College) and representatives from United Church partners the National Council of Churches in Korea (NCCK) and the Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea (PROK).
The United Church of Canada is adding its voice to the global A Light of Peace Prayer Campaign for Peace and Reunification on the Korean Peninsula. In solidarity with Korean people, we pray for healing, reunification, and an end to war.
A Light of Peace will be livestreamed on The United Church of Canada's YouTube channel at 8:00 p.m. Eastern / 5:00 p.m. Pacific time, Thursday, June 25. Please join us!

United against Racism
In case you missed it, you can watch the powerful United against Racism worship service that was hosted by the United Church's Black Clergy Network on Sunday, June 14. And on Facebook, Moderator Richard Bott shares a prayer that we may all live out the work of anti-racism.
Rev. Dr. Paul Douglas Walfall has also written a new blog post that calls on White people in the church to put their love into action to counteract racism. "Confronting racism is an act of love," writes Walfall, "When you love, you treat every person with dignity, as all people are created in the image of God."

New Book: The Other Side of the River
Coming soon from United Church Publishing House! In his new book, The Other Side of the River: From Church Pew to Sweat Lodge, author and retired United Church minister Alf Dumont shares his story of walking between the worlds of Indigenous and settler, Traditional Spirituality and Christianity. Dumont shares stories of building bridges between these worlds and challenges the church and all of Canada to re-examine their relationships and responsibilities with Indigenous peoples.
