News from My Writing Studio

High summer is upon us. Hope you are well and thriving. I wanted to let you know some happy news: BOA Editions will publish my new volume of poetry in Spring 2022. Recent publications are posted on my website, including an essay on COVID-19 in the most recent issue of The Sun Magazine
Herrick District Library in Holland, Michigan, is hosting a virtual summer series, and I will be joining them on Monday, July 6 at 7pm EDT for a conversation about writing poetry and memoir. The event is free and open to the public. Online registration: herrickdl.org/events. More details about the reading series are on the Facebook event here. Would love to see you there.
And The Practice of Creative Writing comes out on September 16, 2020. I just sent off to my publisher the 170-page Instructor’s Manual that accompanies the book.

The new edition is specifically geared to support teachers and students who find themselves in online classrooms.

You can find more about the project on my website.

What I'm Reading

I love John Brehm’s new book of poems, No Day at the Beach, and am thrilled he will visit my Poetry of Mindfulness course Spring 2021. These days, I’m reading about translation, in preparation for a course I’m teaching in the Fall called Hybrids & Experiments. And I’m studying story structure, always, always.
Write joy.
Be well.
Keep in touch.
