"Come senators, congressmen
please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
will be he who has stalled
The battle outside ragin'
Will soon shake your windows
and rattle your walls
For the times, they are a-changin'"

Well we survived our first week and most of this week of re-opening. A quiet yet pleasing phase with only a few “I won’t wear a mask” type clowns. It was so great to see some of our old regulars starting to wander back in. It’s not exactly normal (whatever that was) but its a lot better than locked up and curbside and mail order only (both are still available of course). We no longer have any free masks at the front door, we have graduated to NO MASK, NO ENTRY. If acting responsibly toward yourself and your neighbors and us is too big a burden, it’s ok, we’ll see you later (or maybe not) when we get loosened up more fully.
To the music news: This week sees a wildly anticipated new never previously released hidden gem archived since 1975 from the evergreen favorite NEIL YOUNG. We also are stoked about a new dark, snarky and incisive BOB DYLAN (CD in stock now, vinyl LP hits in July). Recent trend setter folky and unfiltered singer songwriter PHOEBE BRIDGERS offers us her sophomore solo release Punisher. If these weren’t enough, four of the fearless warriors of the Acoustic Giants tribe known collectively, occasionally as GOAT RODEO are back with Not Our First Rodeo. Its YO-YO MA, EDGAR MEYER, CHRIS THILE and STUART DUNCAN, and that’s all ya gotta know. There’s more new stuff hitting, just scroll down and scan the goodies.
So do come see us, bring a mask (or bandana) and remember we got some Rules:
  • NO MASK, NO ENTRY
  • HAND SANITIZER applied at entrance and departure.
  • SOCIAL DISTANCING at all times while in the store.
  • LIMITED CAPACITY – we have a CDC mandated max capacity of 10 shoppers at a time.
  • NO CHILDREN ARE ALLOWED (FOR NOW).
    l6 years or older only.

If you haven't shopped our snazzy new webstore, check it out here. Even after the pandemic is behind us we know mobil and at home shopping is a good option; importantly it has allowed us to offer preorders; here are just a few of the most anticipated releases. Click through to preorder:

Come see us if you can, stay safe

CD

vinyl LP available 7/24

Rough and Rowdy Ways is Bob Dylan's first album of original material in eight years and his first since becoming the only songwriter to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature, in 2016. His brilliance is clearly not a surprise, but what it surprising is that he continues to make significant albums thought out his six decade career. These 10 new tracks continue some of the sonic explorations (tin pan alley meets brooding delta blues from a rambling troubadour) of his last three studio albums of American standards, but now from his lips we have the collected thoughts of one of the worlds finest poets. He's backed by his touring band with appearances from Fiona Apple and Blake MillsCheck out "False Prophet" here!

Punisher

Phoebe Bridgers as one of the most clever, tender and prolific songwriters of our era with a sweetly funny flipside to the strikingly sad songs she writes. Punisher is fascinated with, and driven by an impossible tension bringing fierce curiosity to slimy and painful things, interrogating them until they yield up answers that are beautiful and absurd, or faithfully reporting the reality that, sometimes, they are neither. These sessions include Julien Baker, Lucy Dacus and Conor Oberst as well as Nathaniel Walcott (of Bright Eyes), Nick Zinner (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Jenny Lee Lindberg (of Warpaint), Blake Mills. The album was mixed by Mike Mogis, who also mixed Stranger In The Alps.

This recording, which can justifiably be described as "new age" in the most essential sense, represents a radical new approach to the versatile and cosmic instrument of the steel guitar. This is something new under the sun, a total reinvention of an iconic instrument. All of the sounds heard on this album were made with a 1967 Emmons Push/Pull pedal steel guitar by Luke Schneider, a popular session musician in Nashville, Tennessee. Luke has been an important band member for artists such as Caitlyn Rose, Margo Price, and Orville Peck.

Silhouettes
CD

"Enjoy an amazing and creative program wander through geographic and cultural sound garden of a French sonic cuisine. Stunning playing from both, wonderfully thoughtful and sensitive in the quiet moments and virtuoso brilliance in the fiery pages. Superlative and natural sound makes the listening a joy."  -Gene

Violist Dana Zemtsov and pianist Anna Fedorova joined forces on Silhouettes. "Our upbringing was similar, and filled with Guy de Maupassant, Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas, Georges Brassens, Édith Piaf, Charles Trenet. This could be a logical explanation for us both experiencing this sense of familiarity every time we cross the border to France." Each piece in this album has its own story, its own thoughts and feelings. However, throughout it, if you listen with your eyes closed, you will sense the presence of a furtive silhouette 'à la Française.'
