This One's For the Guys.

Ah, dad. The man who called all your friends weird but isn’t ashamed to fall asleep as soon as he gets comfortable, insists on backing into every parking space and asks for driveway gravel for his birthday. No matter his quirks, he embraces them, and you love him for it.

In time for this Father's Day, we talked to dads who give their all to others; those who are most comfortable on the course; those who are their best selves when wearing a kilt; and, yes, those whose four-legged children make him proud. We've put together features on all of them, in what our boss calls a "surprising departure" from our usual snark.

See them here.

Karla Ceraso Makes Picnicking ... a Picnic

Put the Smucker's Uncrustables back in the freezer because the picnic game has changed. The newly-launched Pinehurst Picnic Co. specializes in planning IG-worthy picnics that combine classic foods and beverages with dreamy decor that'll pass any vibe check. A long time lover of hosting social gatherings, Karla Ceraso started Pinehurst Picnic Co. as a way to bring people together — and to share affinity for a well-designed table scape. Read more about how Karla is taking al fresco dining to the next level.

Walk-Through Event Celebrates Juneteenth

Juneteenth, an annual holiday commemorating the end of slavery, will be celebrated social-distancing style this year with a walk-through event at Southern Pines Downtown Park.

Organized by Impact Coalition United (the team behind this month's caravan protest), Friday's free event features black history expressed through art in poetry and paintings, performances, food, drinks, and more.

To adhere to social distancing guidelines, organizers are allowing 15 people to walk through the event, in 20-30 min slots between 5-7 p.m. Only a few slots are left — sign up here.

Set Dad Up for Some Quality Time

A new favorite recliner, a glass of bourbon and a book he can hide behind while he "rests his eyes" is all dad really wants for Father's Day. Create the perfect corner just for him with the help of Eloise Trading Co., where you'll find everything from plush furniture to Corkcicle glassware made to hold that cigar he's been saving for a special occasion.

ETC's huge variety of puzzles, corny socks, luxury soap and shaving kits will help him make the most of a day spent doing his favorite thing, which is absolutely nothing.

What's Your Yard Missing? A $3,000 Horse.

While the rest of us strive for the touch of class only a pink flamingo can bring, your bed of faded pine straw could be graced with one of the 10 life-sized fiberglass horses that were painted by local artists and, until recently, on display throughout downtown Southern Pines.

Through Saturday, they'll be up for auction to benefit the Carolina Horse Park. Want to make your land a landmark? Put in a bid for "Horses Connect us All," by Shelly Turner, above, or these others.

This Weekend, Petro's Serves Up the Tea

You're always the last one to see the hot gossip in the group chat, but you can be the first to get your hands on the famous "hint of orange" tea from Petro's Chili & Chips. This Saturday, from 11-2, meet the team of the franchise's first NC location during a pop-up tea party at 10725 U.S.15-501 in Southern Pines. Oh, and leave your wallet at home — it's 100 percent free.

Hi Hungry, I'm Dad

No one supervises the grill quite like him, but he'll appreciate a break from checking the steaks every thirty seconds this Father's Day. Here's who's still accepting orders for Father's Day meal specials.

:: Scott's Table: Dine in or pick up a feast from Scott's Table's special Father's Day menu. Just make your reservation or place you to-go order by Friday to secure your crab cakes or farm burger.

:: Benji's: Take advantage of the Father's Day dine-in special, which includes a free order of queso with the purchase of two entrees or free queso and guac and a 32-ounce beer for dad with the purchase of four entrees. If you'd prefer takeout, pick up a meal pack that includes tacos, fajitas, burritos and a six pack of Mexican beer.

:: Mason's Restaurant and Grocery: Mason's is offering a special Father's Day brunch menu, featuring braised short rib Benedict. The menu is available for dine-in and to-go orders.

:: Meat and Greek: Meat and Greek offers three family meal deal options starting at $29.99. All family meals feed four to five people.

:: Elliotts Provisions: If you just can't get him away from the grill, pick him up prime cuts of marinated meat from Elliotts Provisions that'll impress even the snobbiest of grill masters.

:: Bonefish Grill: Show dad you're not as shellfish as you were as a kid, and treat him to the Father's Day special Bonefish Grill. Feast on lobster tails, salad, two signature sides and a slice of cheesecake for $19.99.

:: Chef Warren's: From espresso-dusted ribeye steaks to organic St. Louis pork ribs — he'll have a hard time complaining about the cuts of meat from Chef Warren's. Call 910-692-5240 to place your order. All orders should be picked up by 8 p.m. Saturday.

That's all for Now.

Your homework: Try doing what dad wants to do.

Try not to regret it.
