We will let each pod know where they are to be dropped off each day, so that we can meet social distancing expectations before and after each session. As athletes arrive, each athlete will wait in their designated waiting area and practice social distancing. Each coach will announce to their pod when it is ok for them to come to their workout area. At the end of each session, coaches will walk their group to their parking lot.

Procedures to prevent contact
We will be very diligent at ensuring that the following expectations/practices are executed:
  • Athletes and coaches will self-assess at home before attending Irish Gym to make sure they don’t have a fever, chills, shortness of breath, cough, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or a new loss of taste or smell. If you have ANY of these symptoms of COVID-19 you must stay home and not participate in any workouts until symptoms are gone.
  • If a student has COVID-19, we will be informing other athletes that may have been exposed.
  • Before coming to Irish Gym, athletes should wash their hands with warm soapy water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Athletes must maintain a 6 foot distance from other athletes at all times.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available for each pod every day.
  • Athletes will be encouraged to bring their own weight plate and band, if they have them.
  • Athletes that don’t have a weight plate or band, may be provided items to use and the athlete will wipe down such items before and after use. Wipes will be provided by RHS.
  • At the end of each session, all athletes will use hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer will be provided by RHS.
  • Coaches will be wearing masks. Athletes will be encouraged to wear masks but it is not mandatory. Both coaches and athletes will be encouraged to cough and sneeze into their sleeve and to avoid touching their face with their hands. We encourage athletes to wear headbands to help keep sweat out of your eyes and reduce the urge to touch your face.
  • No water will be provided during workouts. Athletes can bring their own bottle but are not allowed to share.
  • Athletes will NOT be allowed into RHS. Athletes should use the restroom before attending Irish Gym.
  • Upon completion of the workouts, athletes will be walked to their parking area and are expected to leave and NOT gather socially with friends on school grounds.
  • We are NOT allowed to use the school so if bad weather occurs, be prepared to work out in it, unless it becomes dangerous.

Workouts
Our workouts will include speed development drills, stretching, plyos, full body strength development exercises and use of bands, med balls, and plates. None of these exercises will involve direct contact with another athlete. All actions will be done individually and allow our athletes to keep 6 feet from others.

Strength training workouts will be available to athletes through Teambuildr. All Irish Gym registrants will get a free Teambuildr account. They should download the app prior to the first day. We will provide the code to access the workouts at the Irish Gym sessions and via an email from Athletechs this weekend. Until we are allowed to use the weight room, we will offer strength training workouts for those that have access to weights on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday via Teambuildr as well. (These can be done any day of the week) We will have some strength training workouts to be used at Irish Gym sessions on Teambuildr for Mon/Wed/Fri. If clearance is given for weight room access during the summer, we will communicate that through the email provided during your athletechs registration.

COVID-19
The Irish Gym staff is excited about providing a quality training program to our athletes. We are committed to a safe training situation for both athletes and coaches. Athletes are expected to follow instructions from Irish Gym staff to ensure proper and safe execution of our plan. Athletes that don’t respect these guidelines will face removal from the program. Coaches will work with our district pandemic team to monitor the execution of our program and make modifications to ensure we are providing the safest program possible for our athletes. Any questions from parents should be directed to Jeff Erdmann at jeff.erdmann@district196.org.
