Caution using apps to test children’s vision
In the wake of increases to remote care in response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and British & Irish Orthoptic Society suggest that novel vision testing apps should undergo appropriate risk assessments before implementation and, until their potential risks and benefits are understood, parents should be advised that the apps have not yet been proven to be as effective as face-to-face assessments.
