VIRTUAL WEEK OF PRAYER - Day 4

Brought to you by Washington Conference of Seventh-day Adventists
eGuide for June 17, 2020
A daily digital guide to aid your camp meeting at home experience

Hello Washington ACTS readers!

We hope you've been able to tune into Virtual Camp Meeting each evening this week on Facebook or YouTube. If you aren't subscribed to the eGuide, here's a sampling of what's available each day!

‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matt. 25:40

Today's Prayer for the Homeless

"Lord, the plight of the homeless seems to only get worse. Some are homeless by choice and others are homeless because of circumstances beyond their control. It doesn't matter to You because You love them all the same. Help us not to judge before we help. Give us compassion and the courage to not only to pray for them, but to provide resources, food, or clothing to make their situation a little better. Break the chains of addiction and mental illness, and provide a living wage for them so they can afford a roof over their heads. Amen.

Prayer Points

  • Pray for affordable housing for the homeless.
  • Pray for the stronghold of addiction and mental illness to be demolished in Jesus' name.
  • Pray that we respond to the homeless with the love and compassion of Jesus, treating them with respect and dignity.
  • Pray for their safety on the streets and that we take the opportunity to present Jesus to them.

A God-Given New Life

by Jeni West

I praise Jesus daily for this amazing change in my life, a change in how I feel everyday always looking forward to Jesus leading the way. I have had some setbacks, but I don't feel defeated and haven't given up. By the grace of God I have been given a new life and am working to better my situation. This time I KNOW who is in control.

Evangelism Matters
Darrel looked at the flier in the mail, discarded it, and then found it again. Darrel looked at the colorful flier and topics and recounts: "I said to myself, 'This sounds like something I would be interested in.'” And then he invited his son...

Most women know firsthand the battle of feeling they’re not enough. Or they’re too much. Or both. The real lie is that you have to be enough. Because the truth is that God is enough. Instead of trying and failing, find your purpose and passion, and embrace the role God designed just for you. Because He is enough.

Praying Continually:
With Hope

Sam Gungaloo is the new lead pastor for Eastside SDA Fellowship  He sees Jesus through British eyes.

Pastor Sam says about Romans 12:12 that this verse has become the anthem of his life. "It centres me. It gives suffering a place in the equation of life," he says. "There are three keys to living fully as a Christian: Hope, Patience, Perseverance. Sometimes we try to get by on one or two. But it takes all three to be a true Christian."

Reflection Questions:
1. What if I don't know how to pray?
2. What if my prayers aren't consistent enough?
3. Does praying to God prevent suffering?

Evangelism

Heading into the spring of 2020, Washington Conference was planning on holding dozens of evangelistic campaigns throughout our territory. For more than a year, these participating churches had received training, Bible study request cards, marketing packages, lots of prayers, and optimism was high. We believed that God was going to do something great in the spring of 2020.

Then, everything seemed to come to a grinding halt. The Evangelism department went from having too much on their schedule to everything being canceled or postponed as a result of COVID-19. Regardless of the virus, sharing Jesus in our community must move forward.

The Washington evangelism team began to pray and ask God for wisdom on how to continue to share the same beautiful gospel message while under a stay at home order. God’s plans are always much more significant than we can ever imagine, and He incredibly answered our prayers. Overnight, Zoom Bible study groups began to spring up. Churches began to live stream services, prayer meetings, Facebook groups, and live streaming evangelistic campaigns. We soon discovered: God is bigger than any virus!

This year the camp meeting offering focuses on 3 key giving opportunities: Evangelism, Adventist Education, and Sunset Lake Camp.

Wednesday's giving focus is for new evangelism opportunities. We appreciate your gifts for Evangelism through adventistgiving.org, via the Adventist Giving app, or with the giving card you should have received in the mail. Thank you for investing in snaring the gospel!
