Dear AAFBG Members

Hello everyone

A relatively short newsletter as I think things are returning to a bit more normal.  People are beginning to get back to their gardens a little more although I know the protocols to stay well and safe from Covid can be a bit annoying.  Still, better than getting Covid.

This newsletter I have to mention the use of Mailchimp for the groups that might want to learn to use it for their mail outs.  It's really easy and I can help you with it if you like.  Once you use it once it becomes dead easy and you'll wonder why you didn't start ages ago.  Download the program to your computer, take a look and I can help you work through the set up.  It is straight forward I promise.

I also hope that you have embraced the Zoom era of meetings or connections.  I encourage you to try that as well cause it's nice to see your friends faces during a online event.  You are able to record the meeting as well which if you feel you are not keeping up with the minutes might be a great help.

DID YOU KNOW, that you can get a FREE web page from AAFBG??  FREE.  All you need to do is provide the information and it will be done for you.  I have noticed that not all groups have a separate page and it would be great to be in the position to publish your own words or photos.  The same with Face Book pages.  I can easily help you to set up one if you don't have one.  The newspapers have gone to God so I would urge you to start working with different media. Get the messages out there and get more Friends.  You can never have enough Friends.

In this newsletter I have:
  • Friends of Hamilton Winter Newsletter
  • Friends of Ballarat 'Wellingtonia' Newsletter
  • An Appeal for funds from BG South Australia
  • Garden Clubs of Australia
  • BCGI members newsletter
  • Information from Justice Connect
  • ACNC and information about AGM's

Stay well and stay safe, stay warm.

Annual Appeal 2020

You can make a positive contribution during this brief window of opportunity.

In the aftermath of KI’s recent catastrophic bushfires, many plants that ordinarily compete for growing space have, for the first time in many years, the opportunity to re-sprout and set seed in the scorched earth.

Our specialist seed scientists know which endangered species are making the most of this new environment and where they are growing.

So, with travel restrictions now lifted, it is imperative we send our seed conservation team to KI where they can start their critical work to future proof some of the island’s most valuable flora.
