In recent weeks, White Coats for Black lives has been heartened to see medical students and physicians mobilize against white supremacy, anti-Blackness, and racial capitalism. More than 40 new WC4BL chapters have formed. Hundreds of people have taken part in our Actions Speak Louder campaign or made similar demands of their institutions. This organizing has begun to show results, as medical schools and hospitals begin the long-overdue work of addressing their complicity in white supremacy.
To continue to build our collective power, WC4BL would like to invite all chapters to our monthly organizing call on Saturday, July 11 at 3:00 PM EST. This call will be an opportunity for medical students and house staff to share challenges, successes, and strategies for successful organizing.
Please note that this call is a space for medical students and house staff to strategize about organizing within their role group. If you are an attending, medical school professor/dean, or hospital administrator, we suggest that you reach out directly to your local chapter to find out how best to support medical students and house staff at your institution.
