New analyses from Zero to Three and Child Trends find serious racial and ethnic disparities in infant and maternal health care and health outcomes across the country. The report explores these disparities at the state level, provides context for why they exist, and investigates policies that support maternal and infant health. For example, 37 states have Medicaid provisions related to maternal depression screenings during well-child visits, which can support low-income mothers’ mental health.
