  • STEMI (July 21) – Improving Accuracy of EMS STEMI Alerts. Tuesday, July 21, 2- 3 p.m. Eastern. Overview: Two hallmarks of well-managed STEMI system of care include an accurate field diagnosis for STEMI, followed by formally declaring a STEMI Alert to the hospital well in advance of arrival. This webinar presents ways to: Measure the accuracy of EMS STEMI alerts, Improve the overall accuracy of these alerts, Balance overcalls and undercalls on STEMI Alerts. Register
  • CVD (AUG 26) - Influenza in Cardiovascular Disease. PNCA webinar August 26, 2020 at 4:00pm ET. A non-CE learning event. The webinar will cover the link between influenza and CVD, vaccinations, and COVID-19. Registration information coming soon.
  • CVD (OCT 15) - 18th Annual Meeting of the National Forum. Registration is open for the virtual 18th Annual Meeting of the National Forum - Cardiovascular Health: More Urgent than Ever, on Thursday, October 15, 2020. Join thought- and change-leaders from patient groups, medicine, healthcare, public health, government, industry and civil society to explore new approaches to make health equity and cardiovascular health high priorities. Diverse panels will discuss how we can build on the attention COVID-19 has brought to health disparities, Cardiometabolic health, and public health to help more people in more communities attain well-being. The National Forum 18th Annual Meeting will be held virtually on Thursday, October 15, 2020, from 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM EDT. Register

  • Heart Failure (JUN) – Master Class on Dyslipidemia. The National Minority Cardiovascular Alliance prepared a brief training program to support clinician communication about dyslipidemia with minority patients. Goals of the program include: Understanding barriers to treatment of dyslipidemia for minority patients, both from the clinician and patient perspective; Assessing barriers in communicating about the condition and need for treatment; Understanding tactics and tools that might support stronger, more effective communication.

  • Heart Disease (June 25) – Heart Disease Risk Reduced by Comprehensive Care in the Mentally Ill. MedPage Today article by Zeena Nackerdien PhD.
  • Stroke (APR 20) – Diagnosis and Treatment of Strokes in Young Adults. American Heart Association CE activity. $12-15 cost. This activity discusses the causes and mechanisms of stroke in young adults, as compared to the elderly population.
  • Stroke (MAY 15) – Neurological Assessments. American Heart Association CE activity. $12-15 cost. The assessment of stroke patients takes place within the larger entity called the Standard Neurologic Examination. Although the healthcare provider's responsibility may be primarily to complete a neurologic assessment form or stroke scale, the conscientious health professional will benefit from a broader knowledge of Standard Neurologic Examinations. The purpose of this course is to educate the viewer on the standard neurologic examination.
  • Stroke (MAY 15) – Stroke 101: Anatomy and Physiology. American Heart Association CE activity. $8-10 cost. Stroke is a complex disease caused by the disruption of blood flow to a part of the brain. This course will provide an overview of the brain's anatomy, explain the physiology related to the different types of stroke and discuss the basic imaging techniques used in stroke care diagnosis and management.
  • Stroke (MAY 31) – Stroke Risks and Prevention and Patient Education. American Heart Association CE activity. $12-15 cost. This course discusses the importance of providing care throughout the continuum of care for stroke patients, including identifying a patient's risk factors, goals, needs and abilities. Education is key for both patients and care partners. The patient may not be able to receive or understand information, so communication with the families is essential. The ultimate goals are to return the stroke patient to the most optimal level of living, and to integrate the patient back into the community.

  • Stroke (Nov 2019) – Stroke Riskometer app from the World Stroke Organization available on Apple App Store and Google Play. Stroke Riskometer™ is a unique and easy to use tool for assessing your individual risk of a stroke in the next five or ten years and what you can do to reduce the risk. The app can also give you an indication of your risk of heart attack, dementia, and diabetes.

  • CVD (MAY) – Heart Healthy Toolbox. 75-pages from Preventative Cardiovascular Nurses Association (PCNA).
  • HTN (MAY) – Hypertension Control Change Package, Second Edition. From Million Hearts. The Hypertension Control Change Package (HCCP) was originally published in 2015 and has been used in the field to improve hypertension (HTN) control by a variety of health centers and clinics. New clinical guidelines, development of new resources, and general advances in quality improvement for HTN management prompted the need for this updated version. Download the PDF Version. For the second edition of the HCCP, published in 2020, we:
    • Reached out to the Million Hearts® Hypertension Control Champions to gather their tested tools and resources that enabled them to reach high levels of HTN control with their patients.
    • Included more self-measured blood pressure (SMBP)-focused content with tools and resources.
    • Showcased more tools to find patients with potentially undiagnosed HTN.
    • Added new strategies that focus on chronic kidney disease testing and identification.
  • Stroke (MAY) – Toolkits and Posters. From the National Institutes of Health.
  • Stroke (Nov 2019) – Advocacy Toolkit from the World Stroke Organization. The WSO Advocacy Toolkit is for individuals and organizations seeking to advance stroke policy, elevate the issue of stroke to improve stroke awareness, prevention, treatment and support by driving change through governments and institutions.
  • Stroke (Nov 2019) – Stroke Support Organizations (SSOs) toolkit from the World Stroke Organization
  • Stroke (Oct 2019) – Roadmap To Delivering Quality Stroke Care from the World Stroke Organization. The WSO Roadmap to Delivering Quality Stroke Care is an implementation resource to accompany the WSO Global Stroke Services Guideline and Action Plan. This roadmap provides the framework for the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of stroke services globally. It provides standardization and consistency for the selection of evidence-based recommendations, approaches to implementations in clinical practice, and the calculation of performance measures to create an environment of continuous quality improvement.
