SummerQuest is in full swing online! Children, teens, and adults can sign up for Summer Reading through Beanstack and begin logging books and minutes toward earning fabulous prizes.

Now through August, visit your Alexandria Library’s Virtual Branch for music, magic, storytelling, reading, nature shows, hands-on activities and more! Most programs do not require registration to attend. Scheduled events for this year’s SummerQuest programs will be listed here.

Adults, don't let the kids have all of the fun! Join in now through September 6, 2020.  Read or listen to a book, add it to your log, and you will be entered into a drawing for a gift card. Readers can earn up to eleven entries. Ten entries can be earned for reading or listening to books. One entry can be earned for attending a virtual program for adults.

While the library is closed you can fill out the virtual bookmark. The virtual bookmark will be emailed to a librarian who will enter you into the drawing. You can also sign up through Beanstack as well.

All ages can participate in our Summer Reading Book Trailer contest which includes a chance to win up to $50. Do you like books? Do you like making movies? Consider entering Alexandria Library's Book Trailer Contest.

Curbside service is off to a great start! Last month, the Library added two new services--new holds requests and staff-assisted materials selection.

New holds requests: You may place new holds on items you would like to reserve by logging into your account at alexlibraryva.org. Click here for instructions. Please note that during the COVID-19 closure, holds expire after seven (7) days once you are notified they are ready for pickup. Customers are encouraged to schedule their appointment through the Curbside Module on the Library’s website.

Staff-Assisted Materials Selection (SAMS) is also available. SAMS is a service where you may request specific materials, or a small number of items by topic or genre by telephone or email. This service is available if you are unable to place materials holds online using the Library's catalog or need staff advice on what to borrow next. You may reach out to your local library branch at alexlibraryva.org/locations.

If you have questions, call or email your local branch.
