Happy Pride Month from All Children - All Families! HRC kicked off the month with a reminder from our president, Alphonso David, that the first pride was a protest. As protests against police brutality, racism and white supremacy continued across the U.S., HRC -- along with hundreds of partner organizations -- released open statements calling on LGBTQ organizations to center anti-racism in their work and for policymakers to enact transformational change in policing. ACAF partnered with our friends at CSSP to host a conversation on building anti-racist organizations. Check out the recording and resources below.

Resources for Building an Anti-Racist Organization

Thank you to our friends Kristen Weber and Juanita Gallion at the Center for the Study of Social Policy for presenting their lessons learned from CSSP’s journey to being an anti-racist organization during our June 26th webinar for ACAF participants. We’ve made the recording available here and below are the many suggested resources.

ICYMI: ACAF 2020 Change-Makers Report

Last month All Children - All Families released our annual report, Change-Makers in Child Welfare 2020, spotlighting 100 organizations that partnered with us over the last year to improve services for LGBTQ youth and families. Our virtual release event shared messages of hope and resilience from these change-makers and featured HRC President Alphonso David; Dr. Yolanda Graham, Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical/Medical Officer at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health; Nakiya Lynch, HRC Youth Ambassador & Prince George’s County Department of Social Services Youth Ambassador; and Ashley Rhodes-Courter, HRC Foundation Parents for Transgender Equality Council member and New York Times Best-Selling Author of “Three Little Words.”

Download the report, share it with your networks and watch the release event!

HRC’s Latest COVID-19 Resources

This week HRC released two new COVID-19 related resources: 1) a research brief demonstrating the real, devastating economic impact of COVID-19 on the transgender community, especially transgender people of color and 2) Finding Financial Stability During Turbulent Times, a document compiled and released with the Black Trans Advocacy Coalition that outlines resources for those financially affected by the COVID-19 crisis, including those on job loss, budgeting, monetary retrieval, mental health and COVID-19 contraction.

Here’s a list of previously-released COVID-19 resources from HRC:

New Resource: Trans Youth Handbook

The Trans Youth Handbook is a legal resource guide that covers the rights of trans youth across such a wide spectrum of situations, including identity documents, school, health care, non-affirming care environments, and work.

This is a first-of-its kind resource from Harvard Law School LGBTQ+ Advocacy Clinic (HLAC) and the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), co-authored by Alexander Chen, Founding Director of HLAC, and Asaf Orr, Director of NCLR’s Transgender Youth Project.
