There is where
I go to grow.
The letting go
of what I know.
...
The world will teach me
one thing,
and then remind me
I know nothing.
This, I am convinced,
is what it means to learn.
To find repeatedly,
like an ocean’s waves,
that everything I discover
turns out to make
more space.
No wonder
the sky is expanding!
...
I am becoming
in motion,
transforming in place,
certain the mirror
cannot show me my face.
...
It is the waves
that make sense,
not the standing
in the sand.
...
Even here in quarantine
I remember
the feel of wind
behind my wishing.
I know it is not the remembering
that pulls the sun up
from that blind horizon —
It is the wish,
simple and certain
from my lips
that makes room
for the light,
offering up
the fresh depths
of my breath.
