Mon. June 22 - Cody Piper, a young singer-songwriter from the Pittsburgh suburbs, joins the show to discuss his music. We even play a full song, "It's Only You," at the end of the episode. (This appearance is brought to you by Barret Ries, a patron of the pod.)
Tue. June 23 - Scott Parks, a patron of the podcast, joins us and invites friend Justin Steiner to come along on a journey through Guided By Voices' last seven albums.
Wed. June 24 - Mike Wagner, a patron of the pod, picks the topic. We discuss great albums of 1987, including U2's "The Joshua Tree," R.E.M.'s "Document," Prince's "Sign o' the Times" and the Replacements' "Pleased to Meet Me."

My favorite episodes are … the times you feature a certain artist for a whole week. In particular, the Replacements week and the Who top 15! In both those cases, I did not want them to end!
My favorite artist is … Thin Lizzy!!!
The first record I ever bought was … the 45 of "Love Rollercoaster" by the Ohio Players.
The last record I bought was … Reunions by Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit.
The first concert I saw was … Thin Lizzy, Dec. 19, 1980, at San Francisco’s Warfield Theatre.
The last concert I saw was … Big Country, Feb. 13, 2020, at San Francisco’s The Independent.
One song I never seem to tire of is … "Bittersweet" by Big Head Todd.
My favorite song lyric is … "If you were a pill /I 'd take a handful at my will / and I'd knock you back with something sweet and strong"
I have met rock stars … when I was stationed in Berkeley for 4 1/2 years and the Greek theatre was in my district. I'd take my crew down there to listen to sound checks and sometimes got to meet some people. Carl Broemel from My Morning Jacket was a great guy, Thom Yorke from Radiohead was an asshole. BUT my best rock star story involves Lenny Kravitz, who I got to "go on tour" with for 15 days. That story would make a great podcast episode :)
I am drinking … a KSA (Kolsch-style ale) from local S.F. brewery Fort Mason.
My favorite basketball team is … the Golden State Warriors. I’ve been a fan since I was a kid! NOT a fairweather fan. As a matter of fact, my fave all time Warrior is Sonny Parker.
My philosophy of life is … Do what's right, but have as much fun as you can while doing it.

Bad Moves - Untenable (Don Giovanni)
Even in dark times, rays of lights will break through. On their second album, this D.C. power pop band takes on some of the issues of our time, but damn if they don’t seem to have fun doing it.
CeeLo Green - Is Thomas Callaway (Easy Eye Sound/BMG)
Showcasing his given name, chameleonic popster Green/Callaway goes old-school R&B on his latest album. Dan Auerbach produces, which only helps to give the record a classic-contemporary sound.
Haim - Women in Music, Pt. III (Columbia)
A year after releasing the most excellent sunny chill tune “Summer Girl,” this L.A. trio completes the thought with their third album. This is the escapist music we need right now, preferably sitting outside, drink in hand as the sun sets and we all get one step closer to a brighter future.
Hum - Inlet (Earth Analog)
This beloved alterarock band from Illinois returns with its first album in 22 years. There’s a certain irony to the group’s name, as they rarely produce hummable tunes (one surprise ‘90s hit excepted). Instead, the sound is a soul-satisfying barrage of electric guitars that creates a consistent sonic foundation, like a … hum. Oh, we get it now.
Will Hoge - Tiny Little Movies (EDLO/Thirty Tigers)
Three chords and the truth. On his 11th album, outlaw country stalwart Hoge brings all four of those things in big doses.
Khruangbin - Mordechai (Night Time Stories/Dead Oceans)
This trippy Texas band, always searching for new sounds, focuses on vocals for the first time. It may seem like a more traditional turn for an experimental group, but the singing often serves as just another element in the mix rather than the focal point.
Ray LaMontagne - Monovision (RCA)
At the other end of the spectrum from Khruangbin is LaMontagne. The sole focus here is on his bluesy voice, as he wails over mostly acoustic guitar. Goes well with a cup of morning coffee, while your mind is still a bit foggy and not yet ready to process too much.
Becca Mancari - The Greatest Part (Captured Tracks)
On her second album, this Nashville indie artist addresses her coming out (she grew up in a fundamentalist Christian family) with songs that pack emotional punch—“I remember the first time my dad didn’t hug me back,” goes one line—yet still feel hopeful in their expressions of self-discovery.
Moe. - This is Not, We Are (Fatboy)
For their first album in six years, this jam band has been releasing songs this month, one at a time. Now all nine tunes are collected here and amazingly, it only adds up to 41 minutes.
The Soundflowers - The Soundflowers (Imperial)
Paris Jackson (her dad was famous) and boyfriend Gabriel Glenn release a five-song EP. It’s a low-key record, which may seem a bit off the wall, considering.
