Education Over the Airwaves
Like children all over the world, students in Haiti have suffered from school closures because of COVID-19, and it's been compounded by the lack of internet access for most. Unwilling to let their learning suffer, ACE Haiti and the Global Center for the Development of the Whole Child created hours of radio programming to ensure preschool, first-, and second-grade students could continue their literacy learning. Airing throughout the country on 12 radio stations, the team created Créole and French literacy lessons, socioemotional learning activities, read-aloud stories, interactive songs and dances, and strategies for parents.
