NOW HIRING Community Resource Navigators
Employ Milwaukee is training, employing, and deploying more than 100 Community Resource Navigators to community and neighborhood organizations, churches, shelters, isolation facilities and other public health staging areas to help: Mitigate the spread of COVID-19 through the distribution of public health information and resources; Deliver medicine, food, clothing, shelter, and supplies to older or at-risk individuals; Aid in contact tracing; Provide information on how to access mental health resources to individuals suffering from significant additional psychological stress and anxiety about the ongoing public health concerns and their risk of exposure; Provide information on how to access unemployment benefits, dislocated worker resources, or current job openings. Positions will last for 3-6 months and pay up to $17/hour (part-time). Details on how to apply or serve as a host site can be found here.
Rental Assistance is Available to Help Prevent Eviction
Community Advocates, the Apartment Owners Association of Southeast Wisconsin, the City of Milwaukee, IMPACT 211, Legal Action of Wisconsin, Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee, Mediate Milwaukee and Milwaukee County along with various other housing and eviction support service organization launched the Rental Housing Resource Center earlier this year to help renters and landlords best navigate the eviction process and more strategically connect each party to resources and help. The Rental Housing Resource Center created a Rent HelpLine for tenants and landlords who are having financial problems because of the coronavirus crisis. To get connected to rent assistance or other resources, call 414-270-4646, email renthelp@communityadvocates.net or fill out the rent assistance application online. Milwaukee County $10 Million Housing Initiative
Seven million dollars of the initiative is being allocated to eviction prevention, which will help an estimated 2,000 households with the amount each household gets varying on a case by case basis. Of the remaining $3 million, $2 million will go to housing acquisition and the other $1 million will go to mortgage assistance. Learn more >>
MATC ReStart Program for Returning Students
The ReStart provides a scholarship for eligible returning students to pay off up to $1,500 of a past-due balance owed to the college for items such as tuition, books and other fees. To be eligible, you must have an existing MATC student account balance (past due debt) of $1,500 or less from attending MATC between Fall 2009 and Spring 2018. More information & Application.
WWDA Drive Thru Job Fair | July 15
Wisconsin Workforce Development Association's first ever statewide Drive Thru Job Fair will let job seekers stay safely in their cars while collecting job postings and career opportunities. Summer Bike Drives for Youth | July 18 | August 15
Milwaukee County Parks, the Milwaukee County Office on African American Affairs, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, Milwaukee Police Department, the Office of Violence Prevention, and the City of Milwaukee Health Department, in partnership with Feeding 100 Mouths, will be hosting Bike Drives throughout the summer so that kids can ride bikes and practice social distancing safely. They’re looking for volunteers and new or gently used bikes and equipment for their events. The fund will provide immediate short-term grants to recapitalize businesses damaged during the recent demonstrations by helping fund physical repairs, replace inventory and meet other pressing needs.

Small Business Financial Outcomes During COVID-19
Research published by JPMorgan Chase focuses on how cash balances of small businesses were impacted during the last few months, noting that typical small business cash balances dropped 12.7 percent after the onset of COVID-19, but rebounded by the end of April. View full report.

The Building Movement Project (BMP) conducted its second national Race to Lead Survey last summer and now has results available to share.
