Stay Connected!

Issue 8

Hello <<First Name>>,

Regathering and remembering are key messages this week.
The faith community, past and present are in the thoughts of many.
Staying safe and staying connected are important elements of making and progressing plans.

This e-letter brings you news of news and initiatives in the Pastoral Area of Greystones and Kilquade in conjunction with information on the parish websites.

Spread the word among your family, friends and neighbours so they are aware of upcoming changes. Encourage them to sign up for this e-Letter, or for those not connected technically, tell them about what you read.

Let us continue to reach beyond the walls of the physical buildings, caring for and connecting with our faith community.

Weekend Liturgy

On this Sunday, our Gospel is the last part of the Mission Discourse in Matthew, chapter 10. It is certainly demanding and there is no missing the message.
We can hear an echo of this Gospel in a reflection by Pope Francis during the Year of Faith:We are not Christian “part-time”, only at certain moments, in certain circumstances, in certain decisions; no one can be Christian in this way, we are Christian all the time! Totally!
(General audience, May 15th, 2013)

Tune in to the webcam before 11:30 am to hear the welcome.
The Scripture readings are available daily and for Sunday.

LET US REMEMBER...

This weekend, as you visit loved ones buried in our Pastoral Area, take time to pray this Blessing Prayer for Graves

Hear our prayers this day as we come to this holy place of burial.
With reverence, we visit here where the sacred bodies of our loved ones have been placed in the womb of the earth to await the final day of glory. We pause in silence to be united with our loved one…….(name your loved ones).

Lord, we have come on this pilgrimage of prayer in order to keep the flame of love alive in our hearts. As we bless this grave with our prayers and with holy water, we give thanks that the names of our loved ones buried here have been written for all ages in the palm of your hand.

May this pilgrimage remind us of what our faith teaches us – that our souls do not die, but rather are transformed into new life through Christ. Holy are these resting places. Holy is this earth that has held in gentle embrace the bodies of our loved ones and all who are buried in this cemetery.

Lord, with reverence, we leave our prayers and our love at this graveside, and we remember in faith the reality of that final day when all the holy dead shall rise in the splendour of your glory.

Until that day, eternal rest be to those whose graves we visit today, and to all the holy dead. We place this prayer before you through Christ our Lord. Amen.

As current restrictions do not allow for annual masses of remembrance, the 11.30am Mass on Sunday 28th June will be designated to all our deceased loved ones.

YOUR HELP IS REQUIRED

We need people. We need YOU, a lot of you... to help gather others and to prepare and protect the prayer spaces as we reopen the buildings for our Masses.

With YOU this challenge will be met.

At the moment with our duty of care to all of the faith community, we ask that volunteers are under 70 years of age.

Please put your name forward to be part of a team that will enable is to gather, to pray together, to live out the Eucharist in that moment and in our daily lives.
