The PBSA team has had a busy few weeks working on some fun and exciting updates on the Peerplays blockchain ecosystem. This month’s newsletter will give you a glimpse into some of the developments and initiatives on the go. Enjoy!
Coming Soon: PeerID
Continuing in Peerplays’ vision of making blockchain fun and easy to use, opening up to more people around the world, PBSA will be introducing PeerID in the very near future.

The work we did in the early days of Peerplays showed our commitment to giving users an easy to use mechanism which allowed them to manage their own keys. We are still committed to improving the ways users can manage their ownership over assets in Peerplays.

Simply put, the problem PeerID solves is to provide a simpler mass onboarding mechanism - a Single Sign-On or SSO - for individuals with or without blockchain accounts to participate in public blockchains.

PeerID will initially help support upcoming DApps from Meta Gaming, making it easier to incorporate their users into the Peerplays ecosystem.

An additional goal of PeerID will be to spawn new types of explorers that users can interact with.

We’ll have more to say about PeerID in the future, but we can’t wait to get this off the ground!

Peerplays RNG Testing and Verification

As the world of gaming continues to get shaken to its core from current world events, there has been greater demand for verifiable and provable mechanisms which will enable both players and operators to have the same even playing field of ‘provable fairness’. This particular element that was developed on Peerplays has been gaining momentum as a result, and we believe this is a great way for the Peerplays open public decentralized blockchain to shine.

Last month we introduced Peerplays RNG, a decentralized random number generator on the Peerplays blockchain that can plug into any application or game - on or off chain - to provide verifiably random numbers.

Currently undergoing review by leading testing facility GLI, we expect to have the results by early July. At that time, Peerplays RNG will be the only decentralized RNG in North America tested by GLI, opening doors for casino, game developers and operators, and lottery players around the world to make inroads on the continent.

Easy5050 - White Label Solution

Easy5050 represents the white label demonstration of the core Sweeps operations within Peerplays. We believe that sweepstakes operations and lotto type functions utilizing a decentralized public blockchain are part of how we can deliver provable fairness to the world and make it easier for people, charities, and other organizations to support good causes.

As many already know, an instance of Easy5050 has been running successfully for the past couple of months. The Marine Corps League Department of New Hampshire, a nonprofit organization (NPO) supporting veterans in the state with a months-long progressive raffle.

We worked with them to produce a simple design and tremendous ease of use so any person in New Hampshire can quickly buy a ticket using their credit card.

Because of this success and the current economic climate around the world, NPOs in other states are reaching out for custom 50/50 solutions of their own and we are actively assisting others who have seen how well the Peerplays solution works.

If you are an organization in need of a modern, online 50/50 raffle for your community, or if you know of an organization that fits this description, let’s chat! You can find us on Telegram, Twitter, Facebook, or by responding to this email.

BookiePro and Couch Potato

Sports and sports betting in general may have been down, but we have remained busy taking the opportunity to test out and improve how the Bookie operations function to deliver a truly decentralized sports betting exchange.

A couple weeks ago we started testing a new “sports data feed” in the form of Couch Potato, a decentralized way to resolve events in BookiePro. Users of Couch Potato - in the case of testing, several members of the Peerplays community - create events and then resolve them with the final score. This testing will continue over the summer months as we aim to find a scalable solution.

Testing took place over a weekend of Bundesliga soccer and our community worked hard to get a handle on Couch Potato with little outside guidance save for a user guide. We are currently reviewing their subsequent feedback, and will be making recommendations/changes to the system soon.

The hope is not just to be more decentralized but also more generalized, meaning a simpler system to oraclize outcomes for new events like esports or predictive markets. By removing the need for data feed providers and other elements, the process will become more resilient and antifragile.

We’re taking everything we’ve learned from BookiePro over the last few years to make the entire process better and smoother, even if it means a whole new redesign of DApp.

This new design template aligns perfectly with the introduction of Sidechain Operator Nodes (SONs) and BTC.

We will keep you updated on this as more information becomes available.

Articles Abound

During this unprecedented time, many are finding themselves with more time to read than they might’ve had in the past. If you count yourself as one of these people, we have some informative reading to keep you busy for a little while.

If you’ve been following PBSA President Jonathan Baha’i on Peakd then you’ve gotten a glimpse at the future of Peerplays as he sees it.

Here’s Jonathan’s latest in that series, New Redefined Tokenomics and Discovery With Gamification.

PBSA’s lead blockchain architect, Bobinson Bobby, has also been blogging. He’s accumulated quite the library of articles himself, but here’s his two latest, Hierarchical Role Based Custom Permissions and Peerplays and Sidechains and Crosschain Communication.

Eoin Whelan, our VP of Strategy and Partnerships, has also joined the publishing ranks and you can see his latest on Medium here, Time to bring fairness to online gaming.
