Midsummer 2020 Issue

Welcome to our midsummer newsletter.  We continue to be busy here at SMHF, working to make as many of our wellbeing activities as possible available on line.  Coming up, we have a Signpost Sutton session on mental health and parental guilt on July 9th; it's a powerful and important topic, and if it has affected you in any way please join the discussion.  We are delighted that our regular yoga class with Olga is now online - you can join her on Thursday evenings at 7pm and it is completely free.  Don't forget our new OCD support group every other Thursday, and we are continuing our CAB advice sessions online - for help and advice on anything from housing to debt, benefits to employment.  You can book online for any of our events now - just click on the button.

It's your last chance to buy sunflower seeds to raise money for SMHF and enter Magic Theo's sunflower competition, so if you can support us, we'd be very grateful!

The Belmont Connect remains closed at the moment; staff are working hard to support people on the telephone, and if you need us please call 020 8770 0172 (you can leave a message and we promise to get back to you within 24 hours).  We are carefully considering how and when we can start offering a face to face service again; we will keep you posted, but we will only reopen when we are sure we can do so safely.

In the meantime, please stay safe,

Ovie

Mental health often has a ripple effect on families and can harm relationships including those between parents and adult children, which can lead to broken-down relationships and years of guilt.
Do you feel guilty because your mental health has impacted on your relationships with your children?

Test and trace - be aware of scams!!

NHS Test & Trace is an important way of controlling the virus and getting people out and about again. Find out how to tell a genuine NHS call from a scammer.
  • If the NHS test and trace service contacts you, the service will use text messages, email or phone.
  • All texts or emails will ask you to sign into the NHS test and trace contact-tracing website.
  • If NHS test and trace calls you by phone, the service will be using a single phone number: 0300 013 5000.
  • All information you provide to the NHS test and trace service is held in strict confidence and will only be kept and used in line with the Data Protection Act 2018.
For more information about NHS Test and Trace and the questions they ask, go to https://www.gov.uk/guidance/nhs-test-and-trace-how-it-works.
