The summer season for the Trout River Environmental Committee has officially started! Our crew of six have been busy planting trees and assessing the health of both Founds Mill River and Granville Creek to start off the summer. A major focus of our field crew this season is gathering data and health information on each of the eight watersheds that our committee cares for. This will allow our crew to return to areas of the streams that are in need of tree planting and restoration work, as well as monitor the health of the watersheds over time.

In support of the Trout River Environmental Committee’s stream restoration projects, we are hosting our First Annual Tree Drive Fundraiser on July 3rd from 1:00pm to 6:00pm and July 4th from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Drop by the North Granville Community Centre on 575 Taylor rd, for a variety of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants. We have everything from birch, maple, and pine to smaller shrubs such as sweet gale and mountain holly. The tree drive is all by donation, therefore bring what you can and leave with a beautiful assortment of trees. We hope to see you all out on July 3rd and 4th! If you have any questions, then please contact us at 902-388-1919, or at director@troutriverec.ca
