Japan House Shares!
Join us today, Sunday, June 28 at 4pm on YouTube as we premiere another theme in our Japan House Shares series. We will be exploring a not-that-well-known-to-Westerners ingredient called Agar Agar that is widely used in Japan.

Agar Agar, also known simply as agar, or kanten, is a plant based gelling agent used to make a variety of delicious sweets, especially during the warmer months.

Learn about this unique ingredient and watch the author of "The Art of Wagashi", Professor Emeritus Kimiko Gunji, demonstrate how to make three agar-based wagashi from her cookbook. She has a surprise sweet to show you, too!

Finish the programming by learning how to use leftover agar to make a natural face mask perfect for warmer weather.

Please watch with the Japan House Staff at 4pm where you can LIVE CHAT! Make sure you log in a few minutes early to see the countdown!

If you would like to watch the videos at your leisure, they will be available online indefinitely.

Let us know what you think and share your creations with us!
