Summer is in full-swing and we hope everyone is enjoying the hot, sunny days outdoors and preparing for a fun and safe Fourth of July weekend!

Creeks and Critters
Cherry Hills Land Preserve and Denver Audubon are teaming up to present a hands-on discovery of Little Dry Creek at Woodie Hollow Park in Cherry Hills Village. The event will run from 9 AM to 11 AM. Kids of all ages are invited to put on their water shoes, lather up on sunscreen, and pack drinking water for a morning of outdoor water play and education. Learn about the animals and habitats that Little Dry Creek has to offer.

Go ahead & get to WILDSCAPING!
Understanding the complexities of wild bird diets will help attract a more diverse collection of birds to your backyard landscape. Utilizing native plant choices, Denver Audubon will guide you through the process of designing a wildlife habitat, including the potential to certify through the Habitat Hero program offered through our partner organization, Audubon Rockies. This program is for adults and is a webinar.

Family Bird Walk
Join the Cherry Hills Land Preserve and Denver Audubon as we tour the Cherry Hills Village trails. The Bird Walk will be a great opportunity to look for the nest hosting the great horned owls that call the area home. We will also learn about the variety of birds that live and migrate through the area.

We are doing the onsite programs under the Tri-County Health Guidelines, so our on-site classes are smaller to accommodate Covid-19 guidelines. Reserve your spot early!

Hummingbirds
Like tiny, feathered, emerald jets but with about 1000 times the personality, these adorable little critters are fixtures of summer in Colorado. It’s hard not to enjoy watching them zoom from flower to flower and is even harder not to be in awe of just how super these smallest of birds actually are.

Rabbits
They’re everywhere. In the grass, under your porch or shed, eating your garden and being chased by your dog. Wascally wabbits are a ubiquitous sight around Cherry Hills and Metro Denver. But what are these bouncy critters that look so cute and cuddly?

How to Raise a Wild Child by Dr. Scott Sampson
Were you a wild child? Are your kids wild children? According to Dr. Scott Sampson, if the answer to the former is yes, then you were raised right; if the answer to the latter is yes, then you are raising your kids right. Dr. Sampson's book, How to Raise a Wild Child, and a TED talk of the same name share the positive impacts that time in nature has on kids.
