Summer is in full-swing and we hope everyone is enjoying the hot, sunny days outdoors and preparing for a fun and safe Fourth of July weekend!

CHLP worked with Parks, Trails, and Recreation Commission of Cherry Hills Village to bring you all this year's new Field Guide. Click on Read More below to download and print a copy or pick up your copy at Cherry Hills Village CIty Hall!  
 
To celebrate the release, CHLP has a special offer for you:
  • Complete the Village Trail and 5 other trails
  • Mark the trails off in your field guide
  • Take a picture of you with your field guide & the completed trails 
  • Send the picture to us (comm@cherryhillslandpreserve.org)

Creeks and Critters 

Cherry Hills Land Preserve and Denver Audubon are teaming up to present a hands-on discovery of Little Dry Creek at Woodie Hollow Park in Cherry Hills Village. The event will run from 9 AM to 11 AM.  Kids of all ages are invited to put on their water shoes, lather up on sunscreen, and pack drinking water for a morning of outdoor water play and education. Learn about the animals and habitats that Little Dry Creek has to offer.

Wildscaping 101:
Native Plants for Birds

Go ahead & get to WILDSCAPING!
Understanding the complexities of wild bird diets will help attract a more diverse collection of birds to your backyard landscape. Utilizing native plant choices, Denver Audubon will guide you through the process of designing a wildlife habitat, including the potential to certify through the Habitat Hero program offered through our partner organization, Audubon Rockies. This program is for adults and is a webinar.

Join Cherry Hills Land Preserve at Quincy Farm for a mid-summer evening under the beautiful Colorado night sky! Observe and learn about the many stars in our solar system and beyond. Don't forget to bring blankets, jackets and bug repellent!

Connecting with nature in your own backyard is a powerful tool to help children relieve stress and create joy, all while helping our feathered friends!  Learn about food, water, shelter, and space options that can welcome birds into a backyard sanctuary created by your family.

Family Bird Walk 

Join the Cherry Hills Land Preserve and Denver Audubon as we tour the Cherry Hills Village trails. The Bird Walk will be a great opportunity to look for the nest hosting the great horned owls that call the area home. We will also learn about the variety of birds that live and migrate through the area.

Hummingbirds

Like tiny, feathered, emerald jets but with about 1000 times the personality, these adorable little critters are fixtures of summer in Colorado. It’s hard not to enjoy watching them zoom from flower to flower and is even harder not to be in awe of just how super these smallest of birds actually are.
