1.  Nintendo theme park at USJ won’t open this summer

Universal Studios Japan decided to postpone the opening of the Nintendo-themed area that was originally scheduled this summer due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, people familiar with the matter said.

2.  Universal Orlando will officially open new ‘Bourne’ stunt show this week

“The Bourne Stuntacular” is a live stage show that has been running sporadically since the park reopened June 5. It has been open at unannounced times for a soft opening referred to as technical rehearsals. Now the theme park has announced that the attraction will officially debut at Universal Studios on Tuesday.
 

3.  Disneyland workers demand coronavirus testing for employees at Saturday protest

About 200 unionized Disneyland employees protested outside the California amusement park Saturday, demanding regular coronavirus testing when the park reopens, Reuters reported. The employees want Disney to meet health standards that are not currently part of its reopening plan.

4.  Florida Governor Commends Universal Orlando on Virus Guidelines, States Similar Business Practices Will Keep Things Open

As new cases of COVID-19 approach 10,000, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stated today that the state can keep businesses open while also controlling the spread of the virus. If guidelines are followed, like wearing masks, Gov. DeSantis and experts on the matter say the virus can be contained despite ballooning cases in Florida and other states where businesses have reopened.

5.  Reopened Tokyo Disneyland’s new virus rule: No hugging Mickey

No touchy-feely behavior of any kind. No hugging Mickey Mouse or any of the other theme park mascot characters.  That's the new approach that Tokyo Disneyland operator Oriental Land will implement for health and safety measures upon reopening the theme park on July 1.

6.  Theme parks given green light to reopen

KUALA LUMPUR: Theme parks including water parks will be allowed to resume operations starting July 1.  Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was made during a Special Cabinet Meeting on the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) today.

7.  Within 30 minutes, Disney World Annual Passholders claim every open theme park reservation

Walt Disney World Annual Passholders were up bright and early Friday morning, parked in front of their computers and primed to scoop up park reservations that will get them into the Disney parks when these attractions reopen in July.

8.  Reduced-capacity rides, sanitizing stations at amusement park's pandemic-era reopening

The sun was beaming and so were the smiles at Tinkertown Family Fun Park Saturday as the business welcomed its first visitors of the season.  Although Tinkertown typically opens around Mother’s Day weekend, the amusement park became yet another business at odds with the COVID-19 pandemic.

9.  Danish amusement park fires hundreds of employees

A Danish amusement park is taking drastic measures because of the corona virus. Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen fires no less than 233 employees. That is 10 percent of the total workforce.

10.  SeaWorld: Fortune Favors The Bold

Entertainment purveyor SeaWorld Entertainment (SEAS) has been on its own rollercoaster since the COVID-19 crisis began. Shares were soaring at multi-year highs earlier this year on optimism about the company’s turnaround and improving traffic. However, abrupt park closures forced by the virus saw shares nosedive from $37 to just under $7 in the space of a few weeks, a truly epic and dizzying decline.

11.  ARNOLDS PARK REOPENS AT IOWA LAKES

Arnolds Park Amusement Park in Dickinson County reopened over the weekend after being closed nearly two weeks following a spike in local COVID-19 cases.  Park Marketing Director Paul Plumb says staff felt comfortable reopening as new daily cases have come down and recoveries are rising.

13.  Cedar Point announces Fast Lane changes for shortened 2020 season

SANDUSKY, Ohio — Cedar Point fans will notice multiple changes to their next visit at the park during the shortened 2020 season amid the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to limited capacity, a smoking ban and required masks, Cedar Point has announced new details surrounding the Fast Lane ticket upgrade.

15.  Kennywood looking for people for summer jobs

Kennywood is looking to add 1,500 people to work in its rides, games, food and beverage, grounds and public safety departments, according to the company.  Idlewild will employ about 800 employees and Sandcastle approximately 400 people for the same departments. Those parks are also recruiting lifeguards and offering free lifeguard training.

16.  OCEAN CITY AMUSEMENT PARK UNVEILS 150-FT. “INLET EYE”

Ocean City, Maryland’s old-school amusement park, Trimper’s Rides, has a brand new addition. The Inlet Eye is a nearly 150-foot ferris wheel with 36 enclosed gondolas, unveiled Saturday.

17.  Boomers! amusement park to reopen Monday with safety measures in place

The Boca Raton entertainment center will institute enhanced cleaning and sanitizing, physical distancing, and temperature checks for employees, among other safety protocols.

18.  Efteling reopens maze despite corona

One of the Efteling attractions that was closed last month due to the corona virus is now open. Visitors can return to the Adventure Maze, located next to Monsieur Cannibale in the Travel Kingdom park area. A spokeswoman reports this to Looopings.

19.  Joe Rohde comments on Expedition Everest's broken Yeti animatronic

Expediton Everest creator Joe Rohde has again commented on the condition of the broken Yeti audio-animatronic which has now been out of order for more than 13 years.

1.  Museum of the City of New York: Reduced but Reopening

Near the top of New York’s Museum Mile, north of the Cooper Hewitt, a gem from the Gilded Age, and the Guggenheim, itself a Frank-Lloyd-Wright-work-of-art, and the classical majesty of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, sits the Museum of the City of New York.
 

2.  ‘They’re killing us,’ mini-golf owner says of state

“Mini-golf courses are inherently smaller, and therefore harder to properly social distance, and generally also involve the communal use of equipment — two factors that had been less than ideal in the early and mid-stages of this pandemic in New York,” he said. “Under current guidance, mini-golf courses will be allowed to open in any region in Phase III or higher on July 6.”

3.  Children’s Museum will remain closed during Phase 3

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - The Children’s Museum announced that it will remain closed to the public during Phase 3.  While Phase 3 does allow for museums to be open, the state’s guidelines include instructions that museums should remove or deactivate shared objects and interactive exhibits.

4.  Rochester-Area Museums Reopen With New Protocols in Place

The Rochester Museum and Science Center is opening Saturday. As with other attractions opening, there are new guidelines. Officials there saying for now, most of the hands-on exhibits will remain closed.
 

5.  And they're off! Carousel horses back on track in Salem

The Salem attraction, which opened last Thursday, has limits in place to deal with Covid restrictions. The carousel is open only Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are limits on how many people can be in the building, in the gift store and on the ride. The ride itself is limited to 24 people. 

6.  In the Know: What does Retail-tainment's demise mean for CineBistro, Coastland Center, Topgolf, PopStroke, Dave & Buster's, Chuck E. Cheese?

Naples - The Coastland Center had been a buzz of activity with the construction of the CineBistro, Uncle Julio's Mexican Restaurants, SunTrust and other efforts. But now there's a lot of uncertainty on the retail side of what's going to happen to places that had been targeted to open by the end of the year.
 

7.  NC Transportation Museum resumes train rides

The N.C. Transportation Museum in Spencer resumed visitor train rides across the 60-acre historic site on Friday.  Train ride operations will include new procedures to help ensure the safety of staff, volunteers, and visitors. Visitors to the museum should also comply with Gov. Cooper’s executive order.

1.  Manteca’s new Great Wolf Lodge water park is hiring 590 jobs — here’s how to apply

The massive new development just off Highway 120 — which includes a six-story hotel, attached 95,000-square-foot indoor water park and 45,000-square-foot family entertainment center — will hold virtual and in-person hiring events from June 29 to July 10. Great Wolf Resorts, the parent company to the nationwide chain of lodges, said it plans to hire some 590 positions to staff the Manteca site.

2.  Soaky Mountain Waterpark In Sevierville Now Open

oaky Mountain Waterpark, the new, massive state-of-the-art 50-acre waterpark, located at 175 Gists Creek Road in Sevierville, officially opened for business Saturday.  Dave Andrews, general manager of Soaky Mountain Waterpark, said, “We are so excited to be open to the public! Soaky is such a fun place for families and truly features something for all ages to enjoy, all in a beautiful mountain-modern park setting.”

3.  Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown delays reopening due to COVID-19

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown announced on Friday that it's delaying its reopening. The announcement came hours after Gov. Greg Abbott ordered all bars to close, restaurants to scale back capacity to 50 percent and for rafting and tubing businesses to close.

1.  San Francisco Zoo not reopening Monday as previously announced

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (BCN) – The San Francisco Zoo and Gardens is postponing plans for reopening, pushing back a previously planned Monday opening, after the San Francisco Department of Public Health on Friday rescinded approval of “extended phase II” reopening in response to the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

2.  Visitors welcomed to Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s ‘new world’

When the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium reopened -- June 12 for members, then June 14 to the general public -- Nikki Smith, assistant curator of the zoo’s North America region, noticed some interesting behavior from the resident lynx.

3.  Coronavirus updates: Seattle Aquarium reopens Monday after closure to help limit spread of COVID-19

The Seattle Aquarium will reopen to the public on Monday, June 29 after being closed for months to help slow the spread of COVID-19.  The aquarium experience will be different for visitors when the doors reopen. Guests will need to purchase tickets online for a specific day and entry time.
 

4.  Texas State Aquarium employee tests positive for COVID-19

A Texas State Aquarium (TSA) employee has tested positive for COVID-19.  The employee tested positive on June 27 and was last in the Aquarium on June 20.

5.  Toledo Zoo set to reopen to the public Wednesday with limited capacity

The Toledo Zoo will reopen to the public on Wednesday after a more than three-month closure because of the coronavirus pandemic, but operations still will not be fully back to normal.

6.  El Paso postpones reopening of zoo, museums, recreation centers and more

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Due to a surge in COVID-19 infections, the City of El Paso has decided to postpone the reopening of Quality of Life facilities and services as a precaution for the health and safety of our community and the City’s workforce.

7.  Lincoln Children's Zoo debuts new electric engine

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lincoln Children's Zoo debuted a new electric engine on Saturday. The engine, named Jim, was donated in Jim Seacrest's honor by his wife, Rhonda Seacrest.

8.  Four Zoo Miami Employees Test Positive For COVID-19

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Zoo Miami is making some changes after four employees tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week. The zoo said all four were immediately sent home after the results were confirmed. Contact tracing was used to determine if any other employees needed to quarantine.

9.  Man arrested for climbing onto habitat at Cleveland Zoo

CLEVELAND — On Sunday, police arrested a man for climbing onto a leopard habitat at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.

10.  Brookfield Zoo Ticketing System Crashes Due To High Demand

CHICAGO (CBS) —  A lot of people are eager to see the animals at Brookfield Zoo when it reopens. So many people tried to get advance tickets Friday that the zoo’s servers crashed.
