Last Tuesday was a "smooth ride on smooth roads" to Sharon, WI & back for a hearty group of Spinners on a "juicy" summer evening.
Hats off to Spinners Kurt & Kristy for their very recent 4 day 300 mile ride (avg 75 miles/day) taking the Rock River Trail for bicyclists.
Here is a description of their adventure...
We had a great trip and completed the Rock River Trail on our tandem in 4 days. Tuesday we started in Theresa, WI and rode to Watertown, WI for the night. Wednesday we made the trek from Watertown to Beloit. The weather looked (mostly) dry for the weekend, so our son dropped us off at the confluence of the Rock and Mississippi rivers at Sunset Park and Marina in Moline, IL Friday night and we rode into town to a motel. Saturday we pedaled from Moline to Dixon and Sunday we arrived at the Nature at the Confluence in South Beloit by mid afternoon. There were miles of corn fields, narrow recreational paths and a few stretches of highway. It’s always freeing to move under one's own power, lost in the rhythm of the cadence of one’s pedal strokes while enjoying the sights, smells, and sounds of nature.
Here is a message reg an upcoming NIGHT RIDE...
“On Wednesday July 8th we will have our next Spinners Night Ride. Let’s don our reflective biking clothes and see who has the brightest bike lights and blinkies. We will commence from the Beloit Bicycle Company parking lot at 7:30 PM. Remember, these are slow rides - 22 miles in the city, and take approximately two hours. Join us! Also, mark your calendar for the last night ride of the summer, Wednesday August 12.”

The Sharon,WI Round'da Manure ride is ON for Saturday August 15th!!!
Thanks to a lot of planning by Ultra Marathon Cyclist & Spinner Lon Haldeman and his team, they have put together a very well-organized and safe gathering with many separate routes so there will not be a large congregation of cyclists at any one point in time. Check out the following website...
