So long June, 2020! You flew by!

On June 1, most staff  returned to the office, with a few exceptions, and we're continuing to serve victims and provide a safe haven for them to heal and grow.  Our shelter is currently at capacity due to our Covid precautionary measures to keep both staff and clients safe and healthy.  In addition, all staff, volunteers, and visitors are required to wear facial coverings and to social distance while on our campus.  We require all staff, campus residents, and volunteers regularly visiting campus to get bi-weekly Covid testing.  With the June spike in Covid cases in our community, we continue to be vigilent in these health precautions and will continue to adapt as the Health Department recommends.

June also marked another spike in racial tensions in our country and the outcry for solidarity and change. We want to share our agency statement on this very important topic. We hope you will join us in making this a better world for all of us.  Every breathing human can make a difference. We will all need to.
Back to School Drive is in Full Swing

Each year Peaceful Paths provides over 175 children with the necessary supplies to ensure a successful start to the school year. Although we're unsure exactly what the Fall semester will look like, we know for sure that these students will need new school supplies. I'm sure you can remember the joy you felt getting a new back pack and new school supplies each year.  This is your chance to give a child that joy.

We are collecting donations now through July 25, 2020. Visit our website to see how you can help a child today!

There are a variety of ways you can get involved with our back to school initiative.
1. Sponsor a Stuffed Backpack for $25 on our website  (You sponsor, we pack)
2. Donate School Supplies from our BTS list
3. Donate $$ (We will use the funds to fill school supply gaps as needed).

Thank you to those who have already donated. We have had 35 backpacks sponsored already. That is a great start! We hope to fill 200 backpacks this year!

Spotlight on Do-Gooders!

We'd like to give a big shout out to the Girl Scouts and leaders  of Troop 709 who planned and executed a beautiful service to remodel our child space in the shelter. As you can see, they really brightened up the plae and made it a place to find safety and joy.
We'd also like to give a HUGE thank you to the Alachua County Health Department and the UF College of Medicine Covid Mobile Strike Unit for providing convenient, bi-weekly COVID testing to our staff, clients, and volunteers. You have been amazing, efficient, and dedicated partners and we thank you for being on the front lines as we try to understand and beat this virus together!
