2020 - What A Year!

I'm quite sure that this year is going to go down in the history books as one of the strangest years. Our brothers and sister in Nicaragua are facing many of the same challenges that we are facing here in the United States. Thankfully, they are finding ways to adjust and move forward.

As students in the U.S. were unable to finish out the year in school, students in Nicaragua were also unable to continue their year in the classroom. Though the government did not force any closures, most parents were concerned about the health of their children and voluntarily withdrew their children from school throughout the country. As a result, all the schools had to come up with alternative ways to teach their students. Our students are currently continuing their studies via online or are receiving weekly take-home packets.

Our missionaries are also coming up with creative ways to continue to serve and encourage members of the church. The missionaries in Matagalpa have created Lord Supper packages that they deliver to all the members every Saturday. Each package contains grape juice, unleavened bread, a Lord Supper devotional guide, an outline of the Sunday sermon, and an envelope for their offering. The missionaries have also begun having services online via Facebook Live with lots of success. It's cheap to produce and easily accessible to the members of the church.
And what a year to begin a career as a police officer! In April I graduated from the Oklahoma City Police Academy and began my six month Field Training program. With everything that has occurred these past few months, it's been really interesting, to say the least. Thankfully, OCPD has strong support from the community. Almost every single day while I'm on patrol, someone has told me "thank you" for what I do. I've also been able to use many of the skills I learned as a missionary to communicate and work with citizens in daily life. I look forward to seeing how God will use me further down the road in this career.

Thank You!

Finally, we thank you for all your continued support. Most of all we thank you for your prayers for all of our students, missionaries, and the Church in Nicaragua. During these trying times, the best thing we can do is put our hope in Christ and support each other as much as we can. Stay safe and God bless!

Blessings,
