Local History in the Making!
Aberdeen and HdG Reach Landmark Water Agreement
After multiple years of negotiations, the City of Aberdeen reached a historic agreement to purchase water from our neighbors in Havre de Grace. Over the next few years, the connecting pipeline will be built along Route 40, with each city paying for the construction up to their connecting borders. Aberdeen will continue to produce its own water and purchase some from Harford County. This agreement will provide us safe and clean drinking water at a static rate for the next twenty years. This partnership between municipalities is a prime example of what two governmental bodies can accomplish for our collective good!
To give us more time to celebrate our independence, the Aberdeen Advocate will not be sending out a newsletter next week. Stay tuned for more news when we return on July 13th and stay safe!
Fireworks on the 4th!
With many communities cancelling Fourth of July celebrations, the fine folks at the Aberdeen IronBirds have taken the initiative to bring the fireworks directly to us! Participate in this FREE drive-in event LIVE at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium, with a simulcast on 920 WAMD! The Stadium parking lot will open at 7PM with the show starting at 8:30PM! Special thanks to ShopRite, Bay State Land Services, BCV Commercial Real Estate, and Shaffer, McLauchlin & Stover for presenting this event! Bring your mask, some lawn chairs or a blanket and celebrate our liberty and freedom this Saturday at Ripken Stadium!
County Curbside Billpay
Harford County government is offering curbside pickup for property tax and other fees at its Bel Air office (220 S. Main Street) beginning Monday, July 6, 2020. Residents are asked to park along the north side of the county administration building, remain in their car, and call 410-638-3450. County staff will come to them to collect checks or money order payments only; no cash will be accepted curbside. Harford County’s Payment Center remains closed due to the pandemic.  A drop box in the building vestibule and in the rear of the building are still available, in addition to the new curbside service.
We still have more residents who have to complete the 2020 Census! If you are among them, look for a paper form that was sent to you in the mail. Please take a few moments to fill out your form and mail it back. If you prefer, you can still participate online or by phone. Remember, every person counts! Please make sure you are not missed!
Next Farmers Market 7/2
Can you believe that we're almost into July already? The Aberdeen Farmers Market season is underway! Join us what is forecasted to be a beautiful Thursday in Festival Park from 4-7PM for fresh produce and crafts from local artisans. We're still looking for a few more produce vendors to round out our supply. If you know a local farmer you'd love to see at the Aberdeen Farmers Market, let them know they should join us. We're hoping that, with enough community support, they may decide to join in on the fun!  For more info, call Phyllis at (410) 688-0938.
A City On the Move!
Despite being entrenched in the ongoing battle against COVID-19, the City of Aberdeen continued to make extraordinary leaps of progress throughout the community. Nothing symbolizes this progress greater than the 'Aberdeen on the Move' banners. We partnered with local businesses to hoist these brand new banners on utility poles throughout our community! The best part? All of these banners came at zero cost to our tax payers thanks to our wonderful business partners featured below.
