Event Title: Heat Watch Miami

Date & Time: June 15-July 15, 2020

Location: City of Miami

About: We are looking for volunteers that can collect heat data while driving around the City of Miami. We ask that volunteers have a partner that can navigate the driving routes and have access to a car and proof of insurance. Tentatively, we have set the following dates to collect the heat data: Saturday, June 20th, Saturday, June 27th, Friday, July 3rd, and Saturday, July 11th. You will be required to drive in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Drivers will be paid $100 in total and navigators will be paid $80 in total.

Event Title: Climatological, Meteorological, and Environmental Factors in the COVID-19 Pandemic - WMO Symposium

About: This international virtual symposium will help elucidate what is known, understood, and can be reliably predicted about environmental variables’ influence on the trajectory of the COVID-19 epidemic, from global, hemispheric, regional and local perspectives. Symposium outcomes will include a synthesis of the information presented and recommendations for further research at local to global scales.

The FIU CASE Research Development Office is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Research Development Officer - Grant Administrator III.

The candidate identifies funding opportunities, coordinates cross-institutional teams of researchers, and develops interdisciplinary research proposals primarily for the preeminent Institute of Environment (Institute). They will work with the Director and Associate Directors of the Institute, as well as with Principal Investigators of funded projects within the Institute, to formulate and facilitate the research direction of the Institute.They will guide the Institute's faculty with preparing project proposals and developing reports for funded projects and assist with proposal and resource development for the CASE Research Development Office.

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of environmental program supervisor for the Water Assessment Program within the Environmental Planning and Community Resilience Division. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating water resources assessments focused on current and future conditions and developing and applying technical tools and advanced hydrologic models. The duties will support the evaluation of traditional and climate change-driven challenges relating to water supply, storm water management, natural systems needs and flood protection.

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of marine resources manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating marine conservation efforts, providing highly technical ecological reviews, public outreach, education, and reporting on the protection, conservation and enhancement of the hardbottom (coral reef) resources of the county.

This is an advanced professional and supervisory position, which serves as the primary technical expert for the valuation of reef resources and the quantification of impacts and development of mitigation strategies to compensate for unavoidable impacts as part of authorized projects; as a partner agency in enforcement activities relating to reef impacts; and in policy recommendations pertaining to regionally coordinated conservation/management strategies and regulatory initiatives needed to protect and improve the abundance, diversity, and quality of our coastal resources.
